Earthquake!

Yeah . . . well . . . the one's you can get up there can damage the foundations of the continent. San Juan Da Fuco plate is a baaaaad little boy!

Yeah, his tail just happens to end right under a local university. Which, incidentally, happens to contain a lil old nuke plant.

*shudder*

Best sit on that bad boy, Mr. Bear.

My best friend from elementary school, who just happens to be considerably smarter than I am, lives up your way. I have to wonder. He left SoCal for the San Juan Da Fuco and volcanos? How much of genius is madness, anyway?

Give me your addy and I'll show you. Bwaaaa haaa haaa haaa haa haa ha!

Okay, so it was only a 5.6-.8. In Pakistan it would be a major disaster. In L.A., we stir our coffee with such. Still, I'll bet the people at the top of those skyscrapers had one Hell of a ride. :D

That was the magnitude of the quake that made a huge mess of Newcastle back in '89. I wasn't amused.

IWe have grown quite casual in our reactions to most quakes. :D
Being a native and having grown up with them, I was casual, too. Then the Northridge hit. BANG! whole apartment whiplashed, lot of stuff smashed, walls cracked, books fell into big piles...and aftershocks followed. We were out of the house so fast!

I lost all casual feelings about Earthquakes. A rumble in a parking garage can make me nervous now.

This one made me nervous not because it was violent but because it went on for so damn long! I stood there braced near the door, hearing the dishes rattling in the kitchen, feeling the floor rolling under my feet--my cat sitting and looking around with a "WTF?" expression and I kept saying, "Be over, be over..."

I went on and on. Hope the epicenter folk are okay.

And yes, I'm fine, thanks for asking :D

It wasn't so long ago that we had that same shake, rattle and roll here. Glad you're all safe, guys.
