E-mail replies...

I think the volunteer editor facility is fantastic. What a way to encourage up and coming writers. All you do is email one of a list of editors and ask for their help, then wait for the replies to come... and wait... and wait... and wait. Then you give up, think what the fuck and post your story on another site.

Maybe you send an e-mail to Laurel. Same deal.

Guys this is a great site. You have an awesome layout, a fantastic library of stories, a lively discussion board and great instructional resources. Why fuck it up because you can't reply to e-mails. In one breath you encourage us newbies to use the resource, but in the next you stymie our attempts by not having the courtesy to reply to enquiries. "Hey I'm sorry but I don't have time right now." took less than 30 seconds to type. Not a biggie is it. Try it.

The thread was started by me. I didn't realise that I wasn't logged on until I came back.

I feel I owe a bit of explanation. I did get replies to my emails, but a total of 2 replies out of 17 sent isn't really a good batting average. Debbiexxx and Whispersecret... many thanks ladies, especially to Debbiexxx who will get a major credit if I ever do post my monstrosity.

I really would like to post this thing but I am a bit of a perfectionist and won't do so until I think it is fit to read. I don't know... it may turn out to be the biggest piece of putrid trash ever written, but it will be my trash.

I would love to be able to send it to an editor and get an opinion, but if they won't reply to emails why should I think they will reply to a story?

Kiwiwolf, sorry I am not an editor but maybe if you let someone read your story to get the feedback then maybe you will feel confident enough to post. I read many of the stories posted and although not an editor I would love to read your story for you.

Hi Kiwiwolf! I apologize for being a bit behind in my email. We receive quite a few mails and submissions a day, and we've been pretty working hard on site enhancements as well, so I do fall behind. Manu and I do what we can, but we always seem to have a teeny bit more on our plate than we can do immediately. One of the improvements we're working on is automating the Editors program and integrating it more with the rest of the site. When complete, the program will be very cool.

I intend to do an update to the Volunteer Editors list on Tuesday. If you can send me a list of those Editors who did not respond to your email, I will contact them and make sure that they are still interested in being involved in the program.

My apologies Laurel...

I'm sorry for spitting the dummy like I did. I tried the editor facility and didn't get an answer from many of my e-mails so I had a wee sulk.

I enjoy this site a hell of a lot, and for a change I felt comfortable from post one on the boards. I have been around for a while and have prowled the boards on other sites without ever getting to feel good about posting. You have a hell of a good crowd here.

Beauchampd and Lovetoread, thank you both very much for your offers. I may take you up on it soon but at the moment I have put the story on hold until a broken finger heals... it can't keep me off the boards tho...LMAO.
