When I had AOL, it didn't offer the option, though that was about 2 years ago. However, the might now. I think what you need to look for is pop forwarding.

There is also a service online where if someone is trying to get ahold of you, they can put in your old email address, and it will send you one, saying who is looking for you. It won't actually give them the address unless you authorize it though.

AFAIK, if you have closed an account, it's closed. In order to have a forwarder working, the account must still be available. (This is how it works on Unix, anyway...I don't know about AOL's policies.)

This is true regardless of what the account is -- AOL, hotmail, etc...if the account has been closed, then all messages to it will be rejected.

I might be able to help you if you tell me what a colsed account is... *smacking my fingers as I write*

Good luck,

It's just like before you dart out of a place of residence, send out forwarding e-mails to everyone in your address book informing them of your new digs. It might be too late now seeing as you've cLOsed your account now.

That is not strictly true of hotmail. I have a couple of hotmail accounts I didn't use for over 30 days so I can't access them, however I still get alerts for them on messenger and the messages to it are not rejected.

There is no way to forward email from a closed account unless AOL is willing to provide that service, since you closed your account with them I really really doubt they would be willing to do it. It is a technical issue and an issue of address suffix ownership. The only thing I could suggest would be to contact everyone one you normaly email and give them your new address.

I do believe hotmail has done away with the 30-day rule for new accounts...
