This has been going on for some time. For me it started with catalogs. Once I got the Internet and most stores began selling online, I had no need for catalogs. I could just go online and order stuff.

Then it was ads for stores. Again, these stores all have websites now. Much easier for me to go online than to flip through an ad.

Now I realize that there are still people who do not have Internet access. But I think they are in the minority. I wish there was a way for people like me to opt out of getting these mailings! Yes, I know it is keeping the printers and the mail people employed but what a giant waste of resources! All of these things are immediately recycled by me.

More recently I am seeing this with medical/dental stuff. Everything is online. I can see my lab reports, a summary of my recent visit, view and pay my bill, etc. They are still snail mailing me that which I already know. I am getting calls to my landline, to my cell phone, texts and emails, all telling me the same thing! Gah!

Some of my utilities are the same. I can access this stuff online but I am still getting snail mail bills. Actually, I think I will just cancel my cable as I never watch TV anyway. That will take care of that one! It was paperless until after my divorce. Somehow that reverted and I already spent enough hours on that in person and on the phone trying to get that straight.

Is anyone else having this same problem? I feel like I am wasting my time having to view or hear the same things over and over again. It's annoying!

A novel approach to a personal...

With utilities, can’t you just tell them? Here utility companies are desperate for people to go paperless; I deliberately keep a couple of mine on paper because I still occasionally get asked to provide a recent bill as proof of address... I also keep my credit cards as physical bills or I’d forget to pay them...

Here we have the mailing preference service which you can use to opt out of addressed junk mail but we also get unaddressed junk delivered along with our post. You can also opt out of this but I don’t bother because it means opting out of everything including local government communications and every so often there is actually something useful...

Once more, a novel approach to a personal - let us know how you get on :cattail:

Most of my utilities are paperless. The cable was. But I had to change it to a new account in my name after I got divorced. There was a series of mishaps after that. I had to call and chat with them repeatedly to no avail. I finally had to physically go in there twice. They never did make it paperless and while I could view the account online, it did not give me permission to make any changes. I just took the box back a few hours ago. That will be the end of that!

I agree having duplicates is a pain in the ass. I think most of my utilities and card statements are now email only. It had definately cut down on my clutter in the house.

Health insurance seems to be the biggest waste of paper for me.

Holy crap! I posted this in the wrong section. This was supposed to go on the GB. Sorry! :D

Yep. I get that in English and Chinese. I am not Chinese!
