#Dumbkirk

There is nothing surprising about this aqua clusterfuck.

I would never laugh at their misfortune, but I'll sure as hell laugh at their stupidity. "Hold my beer and watch this." It's not like Travis isn't big enough for everyone to have plenty of distance. Salvagers are going to be making some bucks. They can probably use the money after a slow summer. Silver lining and all.

I remember watching the Johnny Carson show when a friend of Frank Sinatra was telling of this big boat Sinatra had purchased.
40 or 45 feet long. Plush.
Anyway, something happened while Sinatra was on board and the boat was still docked, and had never been on the water. A hole was punched in the hull below the water line and the boat went down in about 5 minutes.
It was a funny story at the time.
Looking back, I wonder if the guy who told the story was really a friend of Sinatra's.

I have heard that far more than 93% of the boats floated peacefully.. .

. . .the entirety of the event was mostly above water. . .

When I first saw this story, I assumed that the lake was choppy before all this even started, but then I read that no — what happened was that the bigger boats were cranked up to unsafe speeds, creating waves that swamped the smaller boats, and then they refused to slow down or help once they saw what was happening.

A better analogy for Red America's response to the pandemic would be hard to create.

Yep, just how Trumpian is that? :D
