Florida model 'burned 3500-year-old tree'

A woman accidentally burned down one of the world's oldest trees because she needed a light to see the party drugs she was taking, US police say.

Sara Barnes, 26, was allegedly using crystal meth inside a hollow 3500-year-old cypress tree in Florida's Big Tree Park, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Police said Barnes took photos of the burning 35m tree, a national landmark commonly known as "The Senator", but did not call firefighters when she set the tree alight about 5.30am on January 16.

"I can't believe I burned down a tree older than Jesus," she allegedly told friends later.

Seminole County Sheriff's officers allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at Barnes' home, and confiscated her mobile phone and laptop.

The giant tree burned to the ground despite firefighters' efforts to save it.

Barnes describes herself as a model and included several modelling shots on her Facebook page.

Since her arrest a series of her posing nude have been published online by a Florida radio station's website.

This does not shock me in the least.

Meth is one of the few things I haven't done- but I know meth heads, and I guarantee you she has no defense. She's gonna be like, "It was a fucking tree."

I also know rednecks. That logic stands with no drugs. That's why we could never get the petition signed to save the land that an threatened species of wolves lived on that they were going to turn into a waterpark. I just got tired of hearing, "You care more about a pack of fucking dogs then about bringing jobs into this community?"

Rednecks don't know what they have. They shoot endangered animals, they set old shit on fire.
