So this woman over the past three years has enrolled "thousands" of people in Obamacare. She even "dressed up like a cat for Halloween" to get their attention.

She voted for Trump.

When asked how she felt about his pledge to repeal OC, she said, "I found with Trump he said a lot of stuff. I just think all politicians they promise you stuff and then we'll see."

Oh, like the healthcare coverage Obama promised? It may not be perfect, but deliver he did. Doesn't seem to register with her.

The reporter says: "I kept hearing informed voters, who had watched the election closely, say they did hear the promise of repeal, but simply felt Trump couldn't repeal a law that had done so much good for them."

"We all need it," the woman said. "You can't get rid of it."

They voted for Trump because they just couldn't fathom that this new coverage would be taken away from them.

"I guess I thought that, you know, he would not do this, he would not take health insurance away knowing it would affect so many people's lives," said Debbie Mills, an Obamacare enrollee who supported Trump. "I mean, what are you to do then if you can't afford to buy insurance?"

That is why Hillary lost, because people are dumb, period.

UHC is untouchable up here. Even the Conservative Party might try to make spending cuts. But it would be political suicide to try take it away.

Try take something away from some one. A lot harder than denying them the thing in the first place. GoP and T-Rump will just rebrand ObamaCare. Heck they might even extend it a tad just to show they are not the bad guys and gain a few votes.

But all we do with each deregulation- and-tax-break-for-the-rich party is create pyramid scheme bubbles that eventually burst and leave the middle and lower classes even more busted than they were before. There may not be a bail-out, next time.

Trump Winery begs Labor Department to hire foreign workers over Americans

As Donald J. Trump, the man who’s entire campaign was predicated on bringing American jobs back to America, vows to keep his promise to the people, a Virginia winery owned by son Eric Trump is petitioning to government for the opportunity to hire foreign workers, the New York Post reports.

The request, filed by the Trump Winery on Dec. 2 and posted online by the Department of Labor Wednesday, show that the Trump-owned vineyard is requesting six foreign workers under the federal H-2 program, a temporary work visa that allows US employers bring foreign labor.

According to the application, Trump Vineyard will pay the H-2 workers $10.72 an hour for 40 hours a week, as well as an unpaid lunch break. It will run from January until June 2017.

This is what I think is going to happen.

One of the things that article said was the only way they could get a lot of people to sign up for the ACA was to lie when asked if it was "Obamacare." People were "afraid" of Obamacare and "didn't want it." So they were told it was just the ACA. Dum dums had no clue it was the same thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they still don't know it came from Obama. They seem to have this attitude like it just fell out of the sky somewhere, but darned if they don't understand its now a "law." They hate guv'mint and don't know how it works, but they know what they get.

I think Trump will benefit from the Rethuglicans trying to repeal it completely. He'll frame them as the bad guys, which is what he did all along. And in the end, HE'LL take credit for "letting" people keep their brand spankin' new healthcare and they will just bow down to his largesse. In the end Trump will take credit for exactly what he campaigned on destroying.

It will never dawn on them that:

a.) It was Obama and the Democrats who did it
b.) the Republicans they ALWAYS vote into office never wanted it in the first place
c.) It was Republicans who wanted to take it away.

And Trump will emerge a magical kind of hero, and they won't give a crap that he got into office by pandering to the people who wanted to repeal it.

Most people who live in the very poor rural communities near where I live are assuming the ACA will be gutted in some fundamental way. After all, it is only 30 million people on ACA, and many of them do not vote. Pubs do not really consider this to be an essential part of their base.

These folks who live near me are not dumb-- they are getting as much done health care wise as they can before their coverage is diluted or eliminated. They are betting that Trump will side with dog-eat-dog Pubs. Most of the people who live in my area are Hispanic or Native American doing minimum wage service work through labor contracts on their own and/or for outfits that skirt health care benefits by limiting work hours each week. Most of these folks did not vote for Trump. His base in Arizona was primarily white people

The ray of hope is that the NEXT time universal health care is proposed, after the next big crash, there will be very little stomach for a system that is based on for-profit insurance companies. One of my neighbors called me today, trying to figure out how much deductible to assume with the only insurance company involved in our local exchange. She said, "Well, this insurance will get even more screwed up, but we just have to wait for the pendulum to swing the other way again."

You assume that he WANTS to "keep his base", that he has plans beyond four years. Even if he does want another term (and he's not even started his first) he can take a page from Reagan's playbook and break his most serious pledges, do the most damage up front. But he really should watch out for conflict-of-interest and perceived-corruption issues, which will seriously de-legitimize his reign.
