Dull query about no e-mail notification

Calling all computer geeks, geekettes, anyone else who kinda understands the 'net, or Weird Harold.

It's been several days since I've gotten an e-mail notification from Lit about someone posting to a subscribed thread. My Lit settings appear unchanged.

Anyone have some sage wisdom, counsel, or advice?

Can you check what your spam blocker blocked?

Every time I miss an email that I should have received, and think to look in the spam blocker bin — there it is!

But, it could very easily be something else. I am far from being a geekette. I can barely read Slashdot without moving my lips.

I'm posted on several threads that should have triggered a notification, such as this one and the "I will be blunt" message about Lee passing away.

And while I do have the new Microsoft firewall and the spam guard on the Yahoo e-mail account I use for Lit activeated, none of the settings have been changed and I'm getting notifications from another site.

I recently cleared out my temporary internet files folder but haven't bothered with the cookies in several weeks.

Thanks for your time and trouble. But like the legendary, Vinnie Barbarino, I'm still, "So confused!"

I think you've called the shot. I'd figured to find out if anyone else was having the problem by checking here first before getting in touch with Manu. In the last few minutes I've gotten several notifications, including two with no message. Very strange.

I unsubscribed to a thread, but got notifications. Thought it might have just been in their buffer, but tried to unsubscribe to it again. Not subscribed, it said.

Now I got more notifications to that "unsubscribed" to thread.

Be careful what you wish for, huh?

edited to add: Now I tried to go into that thread again, and make sure I'm unsubscribed, and after four messages about it from that box that controls this stuff, there's nothing new, and I'm still unsubscribed. Go figure.

I keep getting them for old messages. Literally hundrends and they're going to my inbox instead of my spam folder which is where they normally go.....weird.

All kinds of e-mail notifications now, bit maybe 1 out of 50 has a message body attached.
Looks like lit mail is mostly just sending out the headers.

It's been several days since I've gotten an e-mail notification from Lit about someone posting to a subscribed thread. My Lit settings appear unchanged.

This is a problem that has happened before a couple of times -- I do NOT know if the cause is the same or some new malfunction.

The two previous times I know of, the server function that handles mail failed in such a way that it just collected the outgoing mail and never sent it out -- some failure in the communication protocol that negotiates the transfer of mail that caused it to sit waiting for an "OK to Send" answer from another server that it either didn't get or ignored.

All of the notifications people are getting now are the notifications that have been held up for a day or two. It may take a day or so for all of the old and corrupted notifications to work their way through the various e-mail systems before the system returns to normality.

I'm constantly having to empty my email of notices even though all the all my subscribed threads are marked for no notification.

That's hard to do, since subscribing to a thread is a request for e-mail notification.

I don't know of any way to stop receiving e-mail and stay subscribed to a thread -- as fr s I can tell, it even overrides denyingprmission for Lit and the admins to send you e-mail which is supposed to completely block Lit from snding you an e-mail for any reason.

Ok, they seem to have stopped at some point last night (this morning for some of you). Knock on wood they'll stay gone. Oh and Remec, I always get them even though I didn't opt for them either.
