You see, this right here is why so many people can’t stand the MAGA mindset- the racism, the misogyny, the homophobia. Acting like LGBTQ+ folks never served this country. As if people like Harvey Milk didn’t exist.

Newsflash, DUI hire : Harvey Milk was a U.S. Navy veteran! He served during the Korean War, yeah he saw war, made junior lieutenant, and worked as a diving officer. He wore the hell out of that uniform, did the work, and put his life on the line for a country that didn’t even respect who he was.

He was out there serving America before DUI hire was an itch in his daddy's pants, and got murked by someone who thought just like DUI hire. So spare us the fake patriotism and revisionist BS. Some of the bravest Americans are the ones MAGA is busy hating on.

We're not interested': Pentagon head defends stripping name of USNS Harvey Milk

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, testifying before Congress, offered his rationale for stripping the USNS Harvey Milk of its name and for the administration’s decision to ban transgender individuals from serving in the military.

The USNS Harvey Milk is named for the assassinated veteran and LGBTQ rights advocate. Milk was gunned down in 1978 at the age of 48 while serving as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He was the first openly gay man elected in California.

Ships bear the name, or should bear the name, of distinguished persons or true heroes.

Milk was no such person and him being a veteran is irrelevant to the conversation.

The ship was already named after him.

The question is now why it was stripped of his name and assigned to someone else

Because ships should bear the names of distinguished persons or true heroes and Milk was neither. This is the tradition.

Milk was distinguished to others....hence why the shop was named after him.

And again, they stripped him of that honor.

So it's not about whether you believe him to be worthy of that name but rather why you believe he deserved to be stripped of that honor.

I'M not the one who renamed the ship. So whether I personally believe he wasn't worthy of the honor is irrelevant other than my support for the renaming.

So, you see, it's not personal on my part. Nor does Milk care since he's dead. Which leaves you to moan and cry in the dark.

Yes, you are missing my point.

The ship was already named.

I'm not the one wanting it changed.

Do you understand that this is just you being your normal contrary self?

I oppose any name change because it's not required or needed.

The name was given.... It should not so easily be forfeited.

Opposition to progress is usually called being stuck in the mud. The name was gifted to the ship, it can be taken away just as easily and a new name given.

That you personally don't like it means nothing.

Neat

progress means renaming ships?

That you personally don't like it means nothing.
My personal objections aren't part of my discussion.

I'm discussing rationalization of abnormal action. How many ships are renamed on average? (Answer - zero)

Of course! (y)

progress means renaming ships?

As needed and necessary or even by the whim of the owner of such vessels.

Fun fact, you're opinion/belief doesn't count in the slightest.

My personal objections aren't part of my discussion.

Then why make them?

You see, you're just being contrary for contrariness sake. It's your hallmark.

Ships get renamed all the time. That you're not aware of it happening is because most people don't give a fuck because it's not their boat. Nor do they really care.

So far, renaming the USS Harvey Milk is only being opposed by those who seek to promote an agenda about THEMSELVES. It's not about the boat at all.

He was certainly a distinguished person, would still be one if he had not been assassinated.

What was necessary about it?

To you.

Then why make them?
Lol

How often do they get renamed and why?

Interesting take.
Except it's incorrect.

Looks like alcoholic Secretary of Defense "Pickled" Peter Hegseth is also attempting to erase ships named after Negros too.

To paraphrase your buddy the Vettebigot's idol George Wallace's 1963 inaugural address as governor of Alabama.....

Resegregation Now, Resegregation Tomorrow, and Resegregation Forever!
A return to the age of "white warfighters" is nigh.

We all have ringside seats watching Trump attempting shepherd his good Christian flock into new uncharted territory: The Dark Age of America.

Side note: Cadet Bonespurs has gone on record more than a few times stating that deceased Senator John McCain was "no hero"......Should we rename the USS John McCain as well? Or do white folks get a pass?

"Stateside Ronnie" Reagan spent the entirety of World War 2 in California making Army Air Corps training films. He could not deploy overseas due to extremely poor eyesight.

And yet America has decided to name a friggin' nuclear powered aircraft carrier after him!

I noticed as soon as Trump assumed the throne, the USS Reagan was dispatched to the state of Washington for a two year overhaul. Coincidence?
