I almost never watch tv. But this morning I watched a little and saw bits of a new series. I wasn't impressed but suspect most of the world is impressed. LIT cant compete with such fare.

Prediction: In ten years technology will make writing archaic, like quilt making.

Well script writers will still be needed. All those popular, and inexpensive to produce, "Reality shows" are scripted. Yes, they are.

Sitcoms might regurgitate the situations that have been used since radio days, but still there needs to be someone to put those lines together in slightly different combinations, so some people think they're new.

Yes, hacks will still be needed. And among the "industry" there are still films that aren't remakes, for those few and far between original stories, there's still writers needed.

Writers have been around since cave paintings and they will be around until time ends. Story tellers are timeless and without end.

Sure, but what about readers.

What about them?

Look at the number of readers through this place a day. Everyone bitches about text speak and illiteracy. Writers make readers not educators. We're even edumacating you. ;)
