If you're a regular to this forum, have you voted for all the poems of the other regulars?

I know we all have difficulty getting votes for our poetry, just imagine, if we all voted for each other.

This does not mean, you must vote high, or even low for that matter, just vote your heart.

I am starting to do that now.

Every other day or so, I have time and also remember to check out the fresh list.

Then I vote on all new poems that day, regulars or not. (except the few that I just don't understand, cant vote on those)

However, I only started this routine a week or two ago. I found myself irked over that fact that almost none of my poems had recieved more than a one hand digit count of votes. Then I realised that I never really voted myself.

Good idea! (I don't think I've even voted in mine)

I'll start with you. ;)
duuuude, you've got lots, I'm gonna have to do them in shifts. I think I made it to the "H"s.

Every couple of days or so, I go over the new list on the phone with another litster, and I realized that I hadn't even voted on her poems, which is completely fucked up.

I'm just as guilty, just trying to rectify, you know?

If it were that simple!
it is, and why edit? Doesn't matter, already read what you wrote.

You seem stuck on the fact that people vote according to what they like, instead of what is good poetry.

Sometimes, sj, what people like and good poetry can be the same thing, sometimes it isn't.

You're right, not voting is a choice, but it doesn't make the system any less subjective, only moreso.

Ah-ha! This thread explains the sudden vote jump I saw today on the poetry side of my user pannel. ;)

good thread perks!!!

I usually vote..unless its one I dont understand, then I am with Ice..I leave it just so I wont kill a good score, no reason in being mean, ya know? and yep, if you dont vote, no reason to be upset if no one votes on yours..however, I think maybe some other factors play into why some people dont vote, who knows how anyone really thinks...

I was sort of incommunicada last week, bound and gagged, i wish, but no such luck, anywaaaay, thanks for the kind words on the disco poem perks, made my day :rose:

I don't mean to take any credit away from Perks but it seems to me that if there is a "jump" it is due to the newness of the Public Comments feature. It is hard to tell with the limited material available but my recent posts have indeed atracted an unusually high number of (low :)) votes, while the one which has no comment got the least of them. The columns represent the number of public comments, the number of votes, average vote (rating), and the number of reads.

  3   6   3.00   84
  4   6   3.33   83
  0   2   3.00   41
  1   5   3.20   75
  1   7   4.14   72

The poem with 0 comments lags behind the rest. However even 2 votes is pretty high for me. (All 5 texts were posted on the same 2003-12-17 day).

I know that eume and I have been doing the new poems for the last week, but she's gone now, and next week I'm disappearing.

I have to agree that the public comments are causing the poetry board to wake up a bit. I know I've taken more time with it, now, looking to comment to new poets and bring them here.

SJ, out of your new poems, there was one I particularly liked, "the two", I believe it was called. It was a complete image, I like when you finish your thought, instead of having the reader interpret beyond your imagery.

It'd be still better in a long range if there was a search engine for the comments, so that I could listy & view all your comments, or mine...

There are many places on Literotica which do the same things but have different programs; wouldn't it be nice if there was just one great grandpa program for each of these occasions. Users would differ by the power of their passwords (if any). Thus the same program would do different things (strokes :)) for different folks.

Thank you for your kind words about [the two...]. On the other hand all these poems have clear imagery and meaning. Only [a pond...] requires a knowledge of the modern haiku scene (and of course of the famous Basho haiku. If you like call this particular piece of mine a senryu. But it's better than that).

Regards,
