I am thinking about dumping cable for either Direct TV or Dish Network but I have heard very mixed veiwpoints on this matter.

Does anyone like or dislike a certain system?

The reason I even have cable, is because reception of the local broadcast stations is horrible where I live. If you have any interest in local news or broadcast network programming, Cable is better.

DSS systems don't include local programming, or you have to pay extra for local programming, because they aren't allowed to "compete" with the local broadcasters.

If you are not concerned about local programming, DSS gives you much better control over what channels you receive.
