Who has which and does one work better than the other? We were offered DSL for two months for free and then only $34.95/month instead of the $50/month.

Have you noticed a difference in speed? or quality?

I've got DSL but I have never had Cable. I can't compare the two but the DSL gives you sooooo much bandwidth (we've got four PCs networked on it, everyone doing different things and never any trouble) and it's as fast as. I love it, but I'm afraid I can't compare it to cable for you.

I just got dsl this month and it is fantastic. Lightning quick web surfing as well as downloading. I believe it is faster than cable because you do not share the line with anyone. It is my understanding that with cable you are connected with other users in your area. Is your provider handling both the net service and the dsl line? I pay $30 per month to the net service provdier and $37 per month to the phone company. It is definitely worth the money in either case.

I've been on cable for a year now, represented to be 6 to 10 times faster than DSL! Can't say 'cause I never had DSL, but cable is virtually instantaneous! I can't understand the price difference, my cable is $39.95 + $5 modem rental. My parents will be $30 with their own modem.

It depends on several things as to which is faster. I have DSL thru SBC Pacific Bell and have fast steady service. My uncle lives a mile away from me and has cable thru AT&T Broadband. His evening speeds are 5 times mine but around 8AM his speed is only about half of mine. Cable speed varies wildly depending on users per trunk line. DSL is a dedicated line that only varies when the provider's equipment has difficulty.
