In the, "Too bizarre to be believed" category, Drew Peterson (suspected of murdering his 3rd & 4th wives, as well as terrorizing a previous girlfriend), is dating again. Luckily for the 54 year-old, he's found a 22 year-old described as "quite attractive" who has an open mind. I can't even find the words to comment on this.

From the Naperville Sun
BOLINGBROOK -- The latest lady in Drew Peterson's life - a 22-year-old he rescued from a Naperville traffic stop last week - is keeping an open mind about her older male "friend."

"I've always been the kind of person, I'm not going to judge someone," said the young woman, who asked that she not be identified.

The woman said she met Peterson about three weeks ago through their mutual friend, Steve Carcerano, who tans at the salon where she works. Since then, they have spoken often and she has spent the night at his home - but nothing physical took place, she said. Peterson did not seem so sure about that.

"Never 'nothing' physical," Peterson said enigmatically.

The woman lives with her mother, who must not have approved of whatever was going on between the 54-year-old, four-times-married Peterson and the woman 32 years his junior.

"My mom called the police," she said.

State police have identified Peterson as a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, 24-year-old Stacy Peterson. They have classified the case a "potential homicide," and also are investigating the March 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, which was recently deemed a homicide.

The young friend of Peterson said a state police investigator gave her an earful about what he thinks of Peterson's involvement in the disappearance of Stacy and the death of Kathleen.

"They're like, 'We're 100 percent positive he killed them. His family thinks he killed them. You're going to be next,'" she said. "And I'm like, 'Then why isn't he in jail?'"

When pressed about the nature of their relationship, Peterson said, "No comment," and added "She has parents to be concerned with."

The woman, a Benet Academy graduate, said her relationship with Peterson has caused her some grief.

"It sucks," she said, "because I'm not a hooker."

Apparently, Peterson is worth the hassle.

"He's just a nice guy," she said. "He's been nothing but nice to me."

Wow. What can you even say about that?

He mother had the right of it, calling the police.

Abusers are very sneaky. They seem loving and charming at the beginning of a relationship, before their true colors begin to show and the cycle of isolation and abuse starts. I'm afraid for this woman.
:rose: for poor Stacy :(

Silly silly girl. There's naive and then there's just plain dumb.
Her parents must be frantic.

What happened to his first two wives?

She sounds the type to write to prison inmates and fall in love and marry a lifer convicted for multiple murders. That would actually be preferable since she'd be safer.

So that's what a guy's got to do to get a date these days?

And, in her case, delusional, too.

With all due respect, see my above post. You too, starkers and jomar. Don't blame the victim!

Abusers are liars.

Yes, she's young and gullible. That's just how abusers like them - easily fooled. And sounds like this monster fooled lots of people. She may be foolish, but it's not her fault, it's HIS.

I hope and pray she doesn't get in too deep.

Oh, believe me, I know. First hand, too.

What happened to his first two wives?

The 3rd wife fell and "drowned" in a bath tub (although an autopsy done years later showed no water in her lungs. The 4th was 17 when they started fooling around (and he was still married). After the 3rd wife died, he quickly married Stacy. They had a couple of kids, but she started telling people she feared for her safety. Then she disappeared and it really hit the fan. They haven't been able to prove anything yet, but are doing there best.

And Carson, she's not a victim of anything yet. She is, however, being told by everyone (including the police and her mother) that the guy is a monster and is choosing not to listen. She's not helpless and his ability to be a convincing liar extends only as far as her desire to believe him. If she continues to refuse to listen to anyone who is concerned for her, then she is placing herself in danger intentionally. Everyone in this city and it's suburbs is aware of Peterson and the facts behind the case (it's been wall to wall news for about a year now). I guess this thread is as much about a lack of understanding of why someone would ignore all the evidence and advice and choose to begin a relationship with someone like that (someone 34 years older as well). Someone who claims they had no idea what an abuser was like (and no one told them) is different. This girl seems to be seeking it out.

True. I hope she sees reason and doesn't end up like that bastard's other victims.

Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? I smell a rush to judgment here, and a lynch-mob mentality. Let's all take a deep breath.......Carney

I don't believe in that until they make it to the court room. As far as I am concerned everyone on the street is guilty until they aren't anywhere near me or anyone I know. Guilty of what? I don't care. They're plotting osmething, I can feel it...

"Innocent until proven guilty" pertains to the courts. I'm not a judge nor a juror. Therefore, I can have, and express, my opinion.

You don't give a shit about mob mentality.

This thread isn't about his guilt as much as it is about the stupidity of the girl for taking up with him, despite what EVERYBODY says about him.

The guy is a retired police sergeant and even the police say he is bad news. That should tell her something. The police almost never say anything bad about their own.

That's how he was able to get away with the 3rd wife. They believed that she drowned (even though there was no water in the tub when they got there) because he was an officer. After the 4th wife disappeared and he started acting really bizarre (then evidence was offered by another previous wife and a girlfriend), they exhumed the body of the 3rd wife and did an autopsy showing she didn't die of drowning.

Before Stacy disappeared, there was an incident where he "accidentally" shot through the upstairs floor, exactly where he sent her 5 minutes before. She also told a minister and several friends that she feared for her life and that he told her he knew how to kill her and never get caught. A friend of Peterson's claimed that just after Stacy disappeared, he helped Peterson carry a heavy blue barrel out of the house, and after he found out she was missing, was afraid he had helped dispose of the body.

I'm not a big fan of jumping to conclusions, but if you can find a guiltier looking person who was actually innocent, feel free to mention him. Still, the thread was more an open question of why a young woman would go out of her way to date a guy 34 years older than her, whose last two wives ended up dying or disappearing mysteriously (even after the police told her they are sure he killed both). Is it a desire to live on the edge? Is she desperate to believe in someone that no one else does (setting herself up as some kind of superior judge of character)? Is it a bad boy complex taken to an extreme? Attractive women still date OJ and marry criminals who will spend their lives in jail for terrible crimes. I just don't get any of it.

Excuse me? How do you presume to know what I do or don't give a shit about?......Carney

My apologies.

Actually, going from your general posting style on this board it would be more proper to say you didn't give a shit about anything.
