When you dream of flying, what kind is it?
Do you jump off a high place and soar through the air?
Do you flap your arms and rise off the ground?
Do you run real fast and take off with your arms out?
Is it windy and you spread your arms/wings and float off like a kite?
Do you lift your feet and just float down an incline, gaining speed as you go?
I have dreamed all of the above, with flying like a kite and gliding down an a hill being the most common. Last night I dreamed twice of gliding down an incline. The first was down a long meadow decline near my family farm, gaining speed but staying near the ground - then suddenly coming to the end of the meadow which had a steep drop off into a deep canyon. I fell faster and faster, and then it turned into sky diving, with other sky divers around me. Finally as I neared the ground I popped my chute and floated out into the center of the valley floor to land right in the middle of the target zone.
The second dream I was at a motorcycle rally, and to get back to my campsite I just raised my feet and started gliding down a slingt hill, finally coming to tents and campsites where, with the speed I had picked up, I could rise above them, converting my speed into altitude. It came to an end when I needed to go up a side hill and didn't have enough speed to continue.
In dreams I often jump down or glide down whole flights of stairs as if gravity only slightly applied to me. I always look around at people expecting them to be aghast at my ability to defy gravity, even just a little bit.
I guess I like being near the ground, just a little off it, to get the sensation of speed - that is probably why I like motorcycling; it is the closest thing I know to flying while still staying on the ground.
Can you tell I am in a good mood today?
