Libby is a single, 23 year old, small town waitress with an increadable gift. She can walk through her dreams into other dimentions, and other realities. Thing is, she doesn't realize yet that her dreams are real, and so are the dangers.
What I am looking for here is a thread we can have some fun with, build imagination, and enjoy. It needs people, and other beings for both in and out of her dream walks, and perhaps other dream walkers as well. It's a tale that can take you anywhere.
Here's my begining. read it over. I'll start the thread as soon as we have a few interested people.
There comes a point in every one’s lives when a single action, a chance happening or encounter, changes their entire world and there nothing anyone can do to prevent it from happening. Some say it is destiny. Preordained and planned out before we are even borne. Some say it’s just life, taking the opportunities that come along and making the best, or worst, of them shaping our own lives and destinies. But what ever it is, I don’t think any of us are truly ready when the world we know comes to a sudden stop, and we find ourselves having to survive in a very different life. This is a story about such a change, and how Libby, a small town country girl, took change by the balls and made a dull life, shine.
It was another Friday night behind the counter of the all night truck stop on the outskirts of the small town she had grown up in. Libby’s shift ran from dusk till dawn, and although the money was good, it left little opportunity for a life. The dinner was one of the few places truck drivers could get a decent meal for over a hundred miles, so they were coming and going all hours of the day or night. Libby got to know a few of the drivers, but they were always passing by, and always in a hurry to be on their way. Delivery schedules were tight, and there were always more drivers looking for trucks, then trucks looking for drivers.
With only a half an hour left on her shift, Libby began cleaning away tables and wiping down the counters, glancing out of the windows every now and again to steal a look at the beauty of a slowly brightening sky. She loved the sun rise. It was like a fresh new start to each and every day where anything was possible and every sunrise brought with it the hope that today would be the day when her dreams would come true.
Now, the trouble with dreams is, do we ever truly know what it is we are wishing for? I mean, just because a dream seems so wonderful as a dream, when the dream becomes a reality, is it still as wonderful, or just a poor reflection of the euphoria and adventure we had in mind? Some times dreams, are best left as dreams, as Libby was going to find out.
Taking off her apron and punching the clock, she headed for her car, not in any particular hurry to be going anywhere. All she had planned for the day was heading home, feeding her dog, doing some laundry, and then sleeping till it was time to get ready for work again. Sleep wasn’t a bad thing though, for it was then that Libby could dream, and oh, what dreams she had.
