WOW!

I so want this on my main wall!

Hehehe...thankyou, Hardon! Where's your main wall? In an office or your home?

I read your latest story!! How clever! I loved it...inventive as hell.

Are these purchaseable? If so, how much?

I wish that I could tell you that they were for sale...unfortunately they've both been sold. The first was $600, the triptych $850.

The first was a commission. I enjoyed doing both of them immensely!

I do commissioned work for people I meet on forums like this one, however, and I don't charge nearly as much, because they are unframed. I've mailed art all over the world, from Belgium, to NYC, to LA. The net has been good to me.

If you're at all interested in commissioned work from me, just send me a pm...we can work something out, I'm sure. ;)

And thankyou for the implied compliment! Requesting art from me is nice.

Btw...every quote in your sig is great! I agree with all of them.

I keep wanting to say something, but....I don't know. Your drawings own mine, and I'm so glad you posted them. I keep looking at them, and...yeah. ~blinks~ I can't stop staring at the detail. ~blinks again~

You have a wonderful style of yours, with the other pieces and these. How did you do them?

No...yours stand on their own, with their own mark...I've not seen anything like them before - mine are simply different, 672.

Thankyou for blinking though! *giggle!*

The first was done with minimally diluted ink (almost full strength) at the top, behind the nude and around the trees. The ink is gradually done in lighter washes (more diluted) as I work downward. The dark (negative space) behind the trees and nude make them stand out. The trees themselves as well as the boulders and nude are all done with a number of grades of graphite pencil, from 4h-7b. Then I went thru and accented with pen and ink for detail, inkwashes for softness, as in the shadows on the trees and the hair running over the boulders. I referenced a little pic of birches to get the details right in them, but they are not copied. I want my drawings to be original. The boulders and hair I've just been able to do on my own.

The triptych is done in mixed media. I drew it out first...the trees and the nudes appeared to weave themselves in and out of their own volition. I love both the female nude and the unusually curvey trees I've drawn here...I do them often. The trees are actually mutated onions...The painting is called Onions and Silk. Silk for the hair. The onions are my anger - the hair my sensual joy. The side panels are more of the same but with more depth...instead of more nudes, there are only birds.

After the drawing was basically finished I began altenating layers of watercolor and colored pencil. I also kept detailig with soft graphite pencil throughout the whole process. I used a very small amount of ink to add punch to the final result. It takes sme time to do these. A good 6 - 12 weeks.

You may notice that I also love spheres and cylinders (as in the breasts and rear end of the nude and the boulders/ the columns of the trees and her legs, arms, and neck). Repeated shapes and lines excite me. I look for them in nature and try to incorporate them into my drawings.

Thankyou for asking how I do them, 672! :rose:

How in the world did I miss this thread!?

These are lovely drawings--I especially like the Tryptich. The colors are just so calm and serene--a beautiful match for the beautifully drawn women in this piece :)

Thankyou so much, E. You just made my day. ^_^ :rose:

I'm gonna check out your new images over in HD's thread now. ;)

absolutely stunning! did you take classes when you began? if you did, where? my work is no where near as good and this type of work is what i've been striving to acheive.... so any tips would be helpful! i love the details and you make the hair and eyes so natural! in the birch on the woman's hair honestly looks like a stream or river rather than hair until you look closer.... i would love to see more of your work!

Wow...

Thankyou, AK! :rose:

I'd left art school before I did this one. I'd gone back to school when I turned 28. I took an Anatomical Drawing course at one point, which has made a big difference in my drawings. My fine art teachers hated these drawings, however. :D Fantasy is not well liked by most professors of Fine Art unfortunately. <_<

I attended a very fine museum school. I can't finish at this time, as I've not got the money.

My best advice? Draw as often as possible! It's the best way to learn. ^_^ I'm 51 yrs old, but I've been drawing since I was 4.

There are quite a few threads of mine in here - just scroll down and check for Kcar as the author. ;)

Edit: I'm dying to see a larger image of your painting - the one in your siggy!

thank you so much! your the first person to even notice lol :) it's a link so you should be able to click on it.... if not let me know lol... in all honesty i fixed it up slightly before i gave it to him but i hadn't taken a picture afterwords...

i painted that for a friend of mine.... he had written something about 2 pages long about love and his thoughts/feelings on it and since he's been having a tough time lately and it inspired me anyways i painted that for him.... the basic gyst of his paper was "The world doesn't pay attention to love it doesnt even pay attention to friendship as a truely important part of life. yet the love of famous people is watched with curiosity and obsession. while your in love it makes the world a beautiful place. yet when the love ends the world seems dark and all brightness far away..."

i've drawn for almost as long lol my father has told me stories of when i was really little coloring on the walls.... i draw whenever i get the inspiration...

yeah.... that's about it.... i'll have to see if my college offers a figure-painting course..... hmn.....

CRIKY woman, that's insanely good!! The design, the colors...how did you make the figures so transparent? The whole thing just works - I'm so glad I invited you over here! o_O

It reminds me of another artist's work, but I can't think of his name... I love this piece. Hahaha...now I gotta check back with your thread - I didn't know that I could make the images bigger.

*giggle* (the crayons on the wall) :D

Kcar looking at your work is so wonderful, sigh! I used to draw with pencil and pen at nowhere near your ability.....but I miss it. I do love the graceful delicacy of your work. I am remembering now....grin...I wanted to move into your lovely studio.
Thanks for sharing. :)

Laughing...me too. I am working up the courage....I think I still can....mostly I have been playing with computer graphics and editing my photos, paintings and drawings....mostly to repair damaged works and to enchance the photos....which would not need it if I planned ahead  When it comes to the pen and ink I barely touched on it.....I can see it is worth experimenting more when I see quality work like yours. I never tried diluting my inks before....hmm.... I always say my muse is erratic.....she goes on drinking binges to Cancun and leaves me empty....Last time I had to bail her out of jail.....shaking my head. :D
About that studio....can I get a long term lease?

Kcar - just giving you a shout out here...your stuff is VERY beautiful! I like your technique and am happy that you explained your process. I love learning how other artists do their do's...

You're actually influencing me now, giving me ideas...please do more!

By the by — what does "672" mean?

Hehehe...672 is a username for one of the artists here. ;) She asked me to post more of my work earlier in the yr. I have a lot of threads going way back, only 3-5 drawings per thread. I was asked to do that (limited pieces per thread) by someone, but can't remember who now.

Thankyou! :rose: I'm honored to have an artist of such talent leave such nice comments about my own work, IK.

And thankyou for stopping in!
