Many centuries ago, dragons soared the skies and also walked among mortals in human form, very gifted in the arts of self-transmutation and redistributing body mass in and out of pocket dimensions to attain all manner of shapes and sizes. The dragons were the founders and masters of Alchemy, the first magical science.

During the early Dark Ages, a series of violent skirmishes between tribes known collectively as the Draconic Tribal Wars lead to the near-extinction of the species. This was originally spawned by the supremacist views of Lord Calsuphur and his tribe of red dragons. He spread the notion that the chromatic dragons were superior than the metallic dragons and thus should have more rights than them. This doubled with his dabbling into forbidden dark arts such as Necromancy led to the first battle of the Tribal Wars when the Guardians -- an overwatch group of gold and silver dragons -- attempted to stop him from resurrecting a deceased loved one.

The final battle of the Tribal Wars was brought to a screeching halt when a horrible disease known as the Crumbling Plague surfaced seemingly out of nowhere. It only infected dragons, and gradually turned them to stone before their bodies crumbled into dust. Some thought it was unseen forces punishing them for their years of destructive war mongering. Lord Calsuphur himself succumbed to the Plague, unable to find a cure.

Between the Wars and the Plague, the dragon population had dwindled to only a few dozen, until those that remained united and in a bid to save their species, performed a group transmutation and turned themselves permanently into humans. This removed their long lifespans and robbed them of flight, but they still retained a portion of their latent abilities, and their species lived on through human magical bloodlines.

Today, these bloodlines have spread far and wide, but are also highly diluted. Many people around the globe have the smallest traces of dragon blood within them, but they will never be able to realize it or wield the power of their ancestors. There are those, however, with higher concentrations of dragon blood that are able to harness and channel the magical energies in the world around them, and for those select few, there is Dragonborn Academy.

There are two types of students at the Academy -- those who come from powerful families that usually only mate with other Dragonborn to prevent further dilution of their bloodlines, and those who come from normal families that had no idea they were related to dragons. These normal families never learned they were Dragonborn, and thus were never instructed how to wield magic. The Academy does not seek out all magical bloodlines, only those that are already aware of the school and choose to send their young. The exception to this is when an Unknown Dragonborn has enough dormant potential that he begins using magic without realizing it, mostly in times of fear or anger. In these instances, the Academy sends a group of Seekers to invite the Dragonborn to the school to be taught how to properly wield their newfound power. Should they decline the offer, the Seekers will perform a Sealing and lock away any magical potential for the safety of others around them.

The Academy sits in a hidden valley in the Scottish Highlands, concealed by a several layers of magical barriers. To the external observer, it is simply an empty valley. Should they venture too close, they suddenly find themselves compelled to go elsewhere. The only way to actually reach the school is through the Astor Gates.

An Astor Gate is an enchanted archway that connects two different places. There is a hub of these gates called the Astorium, which resides in the city of Drakenhaven. This is considered the capital of the Dragonborn world, and sits on an island in the North Atlantic, concealed by the same barriers as the Academy. The Astorium connects the city to the Academy and also to dozens of other, smaller settlements scattered about the world. Some of these include Korgan Alley in New York, Drakeshire Plaza in London, or Vurdmeister Square in Berlin.

You can play newly enrolled students coming to the Academy, teachers, or other members of Dragonborn society that are at the school for whatever reason. The overall story arc will start light, as our characters get to know the school and each other. Though as events unfold, they uncover a plot to resurrect Lord Calsuphur and the dark organization behind it.

Hello, I would like to join this if I may.

I have wrote an opening post to see if I would be approved to join this story.

TORCH

It was dark and rainy that night and Torch knew better than to be out and about in New York City at midnight, but circumstances didn’t give her the choice. Yes, that is what all young, innocent girls declare when shit hits the fan and they get into some very deep shit, and Torch wasn’t one of those exceptions to the rule jives that is also declared when someone gets away from punishment when caught doing something wrong. No, her shit hit the fan and the rule applied to all to well, which wasn’t surprising to Torch at all, she never got the fucking freebird on anything. Yes, it was a damn party and her best friend and ride home took off with another and left her fucking hanging ten on some dudes lap, which she has no recollection of whom that was, but hey it was fun while it lasted!

The alley was much darker than what she remembered when her and Tina got here earlier, but maybe that was due to the fact that it was only at sunset when they got here, yeah, so what! Each step down this alley brought a slight shiver to her somewhat coherent mind. Yeah, so she had a few drinks! Who doesn’t at a party right?! Anyway, her brown orbs scanned over the darkness, what she was looking for was anything that shouldn’t be there. Yeah, like there would be nothing in a dark alley in the middle of New York City’s seeder side of society! Who was she kidding! She desperately tried to make the double sighted trash bin come to just one but that was a task that seemed nearly impossible at the moment.

She didn’t know who the fucks were that decided to jump out into the middle of the alley like they were some kind of Kung Fu masters ready to take on the complete Genghis Khan’s army by themselves but it was enough shock to bring Torch to a halting stop, not to mention the loud vocal scream that erupted out of over her lips, “Fuck Me!” Torch orbs narrowed with anger when she recognized the two idiots that scared what little ‘holly shit’ she had in her at the moment. “What the fuck are you two doing!” she screamed at the two dudes that was hitting upon her all night long which only got the flying eagle response from her.

The smile that formed over their faces changed her tone of voice from the bad ass bitch she thought she was to the slightly concerned one. Her brownish orbs narrowed even more when they started walking toward her in a prepared to act form in case she came at them swinging or if she decided to run. This put even more fear into her as she slowly began to back away from them. Her one hundred and twenty five pound body was no match for the two football linebackers of the local college.

She had no idea how, or what even the fuck it was but from out of nowhere this bright ball of light appeared between them. It was as if the sun it self leaped out from around the world and landed right in the middle of them. She could hear the screams of pain coming from the boy’s spot seeing eyes. This was her cue to get the fuck out of dodge, without further hesitation she turned away from the boys and ran as if her life depended upon it, which at the moment she thought it was!

Her breathing was labored when she ran into the cop that was responding to a commotion report in the alley she just came running out of. “It’s okay, Your save now!” the officer informed her as he glared at the magical ball of light. “Your safe now.” He told her again as he turned with her and walked back toward his cruiser.
