There are seven kinds of "pure" dragons in our world. Of those, three are beacons of good (white, blue, and green) and three (gold, red, and black) are the gates to evil. The last kind of dragon acts as a fulcrum from which the scale tips toward good or evil, this is the gray dragon.

From times long since forgotten a gray dragon has always led the council of seven. This sterile mix of pure blood white and black dragons has always had the scope of mind and the prowess of physical body to lead the six eldest dragons of the other types against any threat be it external or internal. Perhaps this is why there has only been two times the dragons went to war.

At the first war the lesser races where only beginning to master magic and the forging of bronze was giving way to iron. There were two dragon cities then one for the council, silver cliffs, and one for the exiles that tried to rebel 200 years before, Talon Peaks. The only gray dragon was in his twilight, and that is when the dragon slayers came. They were not of this world, they brought with them skills and magic formidable to any dragon. The dragons went to war with the slayers on this world, while the gray dragon led a small group to battle the slayers in there own world. No one knows what happened there but the slayers stopped coming.

The second war wasn't long after. The lesser races now forged with iron and reached their pinnacle of the arcane arts. The council of six in the silver cliffs were on the verge of war with the unsuspecting dragon city of Talon Peaks. The exiles begot to many half breeds and now the council of six wanted dragons blood and they would have dragons blood, just not as the suspected. A new type of dragon appeared, with strength to rival even a gray in his prime arrived. They were masters of stealth and force with greed for there motivation. The force dragon may well be why the slayers strucked with such passion, fore these dragons were of the same world. The council of six was lucky to find there seventh, a gray dragon living among the exiles of Talon Peaks. It was this dragon, little older then a groundling that managed to join the cities and seal the gateway to the other world.

Such wars were long ago. Now the lesser races are forgetting the arcane arts and boast of the glories of chemistry and a weapon they call the gun. In ages gone by we dragons were legends to the lesser races, always mentioned never seen or known. Now the elves, dwarves, and men know we exist, evident from our forsaken half breeds. They search for us and it is only a matter of time til they find us hiding in Silver Peaks, the only dragon city at the worlds edge.

Sorry if that intro dragged on.

This is the third take on Dragon Wars. The first thread was made by DarkWarrior back in 2002, among my first few threads. The second thread dragon wars 2 was made by chewbacca71 a few years latter. Now I want to take a stab at this thread and see where it takes the new group of writers.

Each thread focused on dragon politics mixed with intense combat. To those ends the new plot will focus on two things. First off the last two threads focused on a lack of a gray dragon, I will go the other way and have three gray dragons: an exceptionally old leader for the council and a set of young and ambitious teens both equally qualified to be the sole replacement for the gray dragon on the council.

Secondly both threads had surprisingly little to do with humans, elves and dwarves other then the occasional poly morphed dragon bumping uglies with one. (Hence where I came up with the half breeds.) So this time I want the war to focus on the "lesser" races, and the half breeds living among them.

Now before I go on, I want to say today is about seeing who is interested conceptually. At this point I simply want to see who is interested in playing a dragon and the basic idea outlined in this post.

From what I've read so far, your intro post makes me want to get and read up on the prior threads. Aside from that, I'm very interested in joining, if you'll have me that is =^^=

Subject to change

Depending on how people react to it, I would like to act with in the mechanics of the original thread. (I will be editing this post to add dragon type specific abilities later.)

There are two types of dragons. Pure bloods and mixed bloods, the council of seven is led by the oldest, the strongest, or wisest of each dragon color, (the one exception is the gray dragon who leads the council.) As a result there is a social stigma against none pure bloods, who will never be able to hold any political power greater then formally speaking to the council.

Mixed bloods come from breeding of two diffrent kinds of dragons say, gold and green. Some times the scales mix colors to form an emerald hue other times the dragon has patches of each. The blood can be further mixed down the line but the dragon never shows more then two scale colors or blending of a third color. So each mixed blood can effectively be called a mix of two purebloods even if there great grand parents consisted of six different types of pure bloods. (Note: gray dragons are sterile and only result from a breeding of a pureblood black dragon and white dragon.)

Now each pure dragon has a disposition toward good or evil. So I will list the dragons in order from most good to most evil: white, blue, green, gray, gold, red, and black. A gray dragon as you can see is in the middle and requires a cross breeding from two parents that have completely different out looks on life.

Each dragon has exactly three abilities or magic talents based on its heritige. Mixed bloods choose any three abilities from the six possessed by there parents.

(I pulled up the orginal list and found an alignment discription I had forgotten, it is also posted bellow.)

"Now, back onto abilities. I will write the abilities/types of spells of the "prime" colours only, but the "hybrids" generally inherit abilities from each of their parents - though the father's side tends to be somewhat stronger in their children.

White - Regeneration, Protection, Polymorphing.
Blue - Clairvoyance, Polymorphing, Cold
Green - Regeneration, Mind control, Polymorphing.
Grey - All or most of white's, all or most of black's (All if that colour is their father, most if it is the mother)
Gold - Polymorphing, Lightning, Regeneration
Red - Fire, Fear, Largest and physically strongest of all dragons, with the exception of the grey.
Black - Fear, Mind Control, Polymorphing."

"White (Lawful, Heroic, basically the pinnacle of "goodness")
Blue (Much like whites, except slightly more of a judge than the jury, and tend to be more "thinkers" than "doers")
Green (The most peaceful of all dragons, though cares little about good or evil and tends only slightly to the former)
Grey (Considered the wisest (Just a touch wiser than the Blues), and most glorious of all dragons)
Gold (Golds are the most independent and selfish of all the dragons, their main priority is their own survival)
Red (The most aggressive of all the dragons, often very fiery and hot-headed. Loves destruction.)
Black (Their hearts are the same colour as their scales. The most scheming and evil of all the colours.)"

The above quotes are the work of Dark Warrior.
