A draft copy of the proposed Project 2025 State Department reorganization was leaked to the press yesterday.
Three major changes to centuries of diplomacy:
  1. Cut the Canadian embassy staff by an arbitrary 50%
  2. Eliminate ALL embassies and consulates in "sub-Saharan Africa" (i.e. African nations without oil reserves). Africans can apply for visas by mail or email to the newly created "African American Affairs" in Washington DC.
  3. Elimination of the Foreign Service Officer Exam (this is huge)
Significant pushback by career foreign service officers on all three (which is probably why it was leaked).

The elimination of the FSO exam is problematic.
  • To get into medical school, you have to take the difficult MCAT admissions test
  • To get into law school, you have to take the difficult LSAT admissions test
  • To get into foreign service, you have to take the difficult FSO admissions test
The Trump admin is proposing doing away with the FSO exam, and replacing it with interviews with politcal kommissars (i.e. the Heritage Foundation) to ascertain whether candidates have values that align with Dear Leader. The Heritage Foundation has always been envious of the Federalist Society's stranglehold on Federal judicial clerk opportunities, and has decided that if the Federalist society controls the pipeline to the Federal Judiciary, the Heritage Foundation should have the same opportunity to control the pipeline to Executive Branch foreign service applicants.

The FSO is an extremely hard exam to pass I've heard, so doing away with it would make a career in Foreign Service much more attainable for mediocre white Christian men.

Secretary of State "little" Marco Rubio says this is "fake news" :nana:

But, Africans in Africa are not African-Americans. They're just African-Africans. Apart from physical appearance, they have little in common at all with African-Americans.

We don't need and can't afford to keep embassies in all 195 nations of the world. If we set a minimum population of 10 million, that excludes Libya, which has oil, but it's not much of a nation now after Obama. Multiple factors could add up to an embassy, such as population, GDP, number of Americans there, trade with the US, etc.

I was just about to say - bB is getting a hard on from this thread.

But I see he's all over it already

Sorry about that. It should have read "Africa-America affairs" or simply the African Desk.

Ever thought of changing your name to “Pedantfuk”???

I've got a better idea, cut them by 100%. If I had my way they would have all been declared persona non grata and sent home months ago. I'd close our embassy in the US as well by 100%. We don't need to have diplomatic relations ( or any other kind) while this dipshit is in charge.

Translation: We're closing the Embassies and Consulates in Africa, therefore handing the entire continent to Russia, China and Iran on a silver platter.

yup. I think back to around 2018, when it was discovered that a rare mineral (Cobalt) radically extends the life of lithium batteries in electronic vehicles.

uh oh, most reserves of cobalt are in....you guessed it....Africa.

African nations, eager to seek favor with America (along with those sweet sweet Murican greenbacks) contacted American embassies and offered their newfound hot commodity to America first (years of diplomacy made America the trade partner of choice).

Thunder from the Trump Throne in Washington DC proclaimed "If it ain't related to petrochemicals, the sovereign nation of America is NOT INTERESTED!"

The sneeky commie Chinamen then swooped in and began developing mines and a transport infrastructure.

The Trump administration is "business oriented", which is NOT a compliment. They focus on the upcoming 3 month window to the exclusion of all else.

Here’s the actual announcement from the state department. 😀

https://www.state.gov/building-an-america-first-state-department/
"Make the State Department Great Again"?!

"In its current form, the Department is bloated, bureaucratic, and unable to perform its essential diplomatic mission in this new era of great power competition. Over the past 15 years, the Department’s footprint has had unprecedented growth and costs have soared. But far from seeing a return on investment, taxpayers have seen less effective and efficient diplomacy. The sprawling bureaucracy created a system more beholden to radical political ideology than advancing America’s core national interests."

Every word of that is a lie.
