Dr Phil

you should perhaps be thinking more about whats for dinner tonight, it's got to be better than Dr. Phil. ;)

I've never seen Dr. Phil, though I've met his son. Gorgeous piece of eye candy, but barely three brain cells to rub together.

I use to like him. When the whole 'Philism' was new & fresh, Now he's everywhere telling people how terrible they are & how their lives suck, their spouces' suck...blablabla...

I love when you call me names. Next time, can you spank me as well?

*chuckling* only if you promise to grab a fist full of my hair and tug on it. After that we can take a nice long drive and talk about how bad you've been...

I guess it's easy to condemn Dr. Phil as being "too mean," but come on... he's dealing with married couples whose lives are being thrown into disarray. He's trying to save their marriages, and people who are accustomed to living together a certain way and developing certain habits, grudges, etc., will most likely need a harsh reality-check in order to make them realize exactly how to get out of the mess they're in.

Today he was talking to couples who were having various problems with their attraction to their spouses. The only story I saw the whole of was with a woman who was 15 years younger than her husband, and wanted him to lose the 70 pounds he gained since they were married and get an eyelift and a chin tuck. She was practically cruel to him in her persistence that he lose weight -- rather than encourage him, she poked, prodded, and bullied them to the point where neither one really respects the other anymore. Sounds like a situation in which the man needs to realize he isn't getting any younger and could *die* because of all the extra weight he's carrying around, as well as in which the woman needs to realize that she is not getting anywhere by criticizing him.

How do we break such bad habits, which have been with us for 3 years? We need a wake-up call. A veritable slap in the face. Step outside the picture and take a look at where you are, what you're doing. Dr. Phil gets them there and says, "Look at this. You analyze your own situation as it is. If you want to stay together, you need to do such-and-such. If you aren't willing to do that, then get a divorce, because this marriage isn't helping anybody."

Sounds like good advice to me. Sometimes people need tough love.

Generally, Dr. Phil only points out the obvious. The silliest question I remember was a woman, the other woman, who was dating a married guy for 20 something years and was asking if she should move on. Like DUH!!! Sadly, none of the other 'problems' he deals with seem to be much more insightful. These people deserve to be ripped in my opinion.

I'll skip the titles, but I'm thinking it's about guys who have no idea their wives go online and next thing you know all of literotica is there carrying posters of their avatars...

I like Dr. Phil. He tells you flat out what you are refusing to see or deal with, and he'll give you roadmaps on how to fix things if you have the balls to try. I've watched him on tv (not just on the Oprah show, but on some of his longer seminars as well), and am in the middle of two of his books. If people don't like his style, they don't have to go see him. As one of his clients said, he's "intimidating even when he's in a good mood", but he was sure glad he had chosen Dr. Phil for counseling. I find him quite...hot :D
