******Spoiler Alert*******

OMG I just watched the Season 4, Episode 2. ( At least, I think it was Episode 2) Whatever episode it was, it was so good.

I can totally understand why Anna is keeping her attack from Bates. He would have killed Mr Green. The rape scene, even though it was kept short from our eyes, was well done.

I am also so glad to see Mary with a new love interest and showing some old spunk. It was so depressing to see her sulk around afraid Matthew's death.

Who else watches Downton???????

Downton is on tonight at 9 PM on PBS. I will be watching. :)

It's a "can't miss" show for me! And I really only have less than a handful of those.

Did you see Anna's rape, Lori?

Yes. It was horrifying, and I feel so awful for her. And for Bates, because he has no clue why she's pushing him away. As much as we lament how difficult it is to pursue rapists now, it was a thousand times worse for women in their time. :(

I was engrossed in Downton during the first series, but then I lost interest. There was just too great a gap between the reality of the period represented and the fiction of the TV programme. How many daughters of English earls eloped with Irish chauffeurs during the late 19th/early 20th century? I also didn't find a lot of the acting very convincing and the plots were a little repetitive (the endless complications of Anna and Bates' relationship were just tedious). About the only appealing thing left is Maggie Smith's acerbic dowager.

Agreed.

It's gotten progressively dumber and dumber.

Suspension of disbelief became impossible when the plot became stupid. It began to unravel when the youngest daughter married the bomb-throwing, socialist chauffeur; suspension of disbelief became difficult if not downright impossible.

Asking us to believe Lord Grantham would be capable of treating his former chauffeur as an equal in the management of Downton is laughable.

Mr Bates knows the "truth" of Anna rape now. It's only a matter of time until the rapist comes back to Downton.

Like many shows I prefer to watch on Netflix instead of watching it when it's on. DVR works too I suppose. Even though there aren't commercials on PBS I still prefer watching it later and being able to watch episode after episode as I'm able to fit it in.

If you like British TV ladies, check out Call the Midwife on Netflix. I've really enjoyed this series along with the book series. Just FYI.

I got the first three seasons on DVD for Christmas. I am just about halfway through Season 2. I love it!!! The house, the costumes....and best of all, Maggie Smith, who is so brilliant in her character I have no words. I also like Thomas, who is mean and nasty, but with a softer side he doesn't show.

I would so love to go and have a ramble through that house...

I'm addicted. I can't say why but I'm physically attracted to Mary. Anna's rape was horrible - rape is horrible - and yet I still felt a sense of excitement watching it. Something is wrong with me.
