Down Into The Depths (OOC)

This is a traditional dungeon crawl, with all of the monsters, traps and such. We will start in an Inn, as an established adventuring group. Try to act as if you know each other in character. Because of this, it is important to write decent biographies, and to actually read each others' biographies.

The kingdom is called Yelsin, at the center of a continent full of small, petty kings. It is a tiny kingdom with a big problem. The royal catacombs have become infected with vermin and pests, due to a lack of attention.

The king is looking for a group of adventurers to help the royal family ride this catacombs of the pests which have infected it.

Yelsin is landlocked and has very few lakes. It gets water from mountain springs, and imports wheat and produce, from other countries. Yelsin's riches lay in her mountains, which have been mined extensively over the generations. The mines are starting to produce less and the kingdom is starting to struggle financially. The current king, one Rupert the Second, has a taste for parties and no head for numbers. There are still a lot of sheep farmers and some valleys with farming, but not enough to feed the entire population.

This will be a small test game. There will be 6-8 to clear. If we clear all 6-8, and are still having fun, then other adventures can be had in Yelsin, and I will flesh out the kingdom a bit more.

Gender/Orientation: bisexual female
Kingdom of Origin: Darvis, a small country on the southern edge of the continent is Mara's country of origin. It is a small forested kingdom, mostly subsisting on hunting instead of farming. The peoples live in tribes and there is little in the way of an overall king. Each tribe is ruled by elder woman, and has an animal totem for it's head. Mara's totem is the deer.

Appearance: Mara is a slender young woman with tanned skin, long black hair and brown eyes. She dresses in animal leathers and furs and a bow, a dagger and twin tomahawks.

Personality:Mara is not yet world weary, though she has seen a lot of the world in her six years of adventuring. She always longs to see what is over the next horizon and does not put down roots easily, beyond those she left behind. She is head strong and independent.
Biography:
Mara is the first born of six, to her mother Marri. She was raised in common, with the other children, as is the way of her tribe, but had a special relationship with her birth mother. Her mother was one of the wise women of the tribe, and took a special interest in her upbringing.

Mara was raised to be a hunter. She knows the ways of the forest and how to track game and survive with nothing more than a knife. She was taught from an early age to fashion her own arrows and bow, to fight with hatchets and to wrestle. She knows the ways of animals as well, having made a study of them in her hunting.

When Mara was a young girl, she always would go off exploring on her own, sometimes attracting the attentions of more dangerous tribes, like the Badgers or the Wolves. She caused her people no end of troubles. Still, when at sixteen she decided to leave the tribe, to become an adventurer, they were sorry to see her go. She had become a more responsible adult than she ever was a child.

Mara has been adventuring for six years now, and has had a small band of adventurers grow up around her. She has not yet formed more than friendships with any of them, but it is probably her independent streak which make this the case.

Biography: The youngest son of a nobleman, far from inheriting any of his father’s titles, Ravin decided to pursue the life of an adventurer in hope of winning his own fame and maybe even earn a title of his own. He is proud and arrogant young man who often acts before he thinks which has put him in trouble on more than one occasion. Being the son of a nobleman he has received education on various topics like heraldry, history and warfare. It didn’t stop Ravin spent more time honing his sword skill than he did studying any other subject. His teacher was a famous swordsman and there are few men in the kingdom who can match his skill. He is fiercely loyal to his friends and family and brave (stupid) enough to protect them even against the direst of odds.

Personality: His work as a scout for Yelsin's army have created a lone wolf personality in him. He prefers to work alone, but has had enough experience working with others to not be awkward. His attitude and good looks have lent to an aura of mystery in which have attracted his own fair share of women.

Biography: Caelen is the only son of a family of hunters and fishers. As a part of the king's levies, he was conscripted into Yelsin's army at the age of 17, where his skills sent him into service as a scout. After 12 years of looking over the borders and seeing the lands of other kingdoms, he finally left the service curious what it would be like to actually be there. The first thing he needed to do, however, was make some money. That is when he heard of the king's call for adventurers. It sounded like a good thing to get into.

Tall, athletic build, long straight brown hair with blue-grey eyes. She wears a black corset under her light chainmail armor. Her skin is of weathered tan and bares some scars on her back and upper shoulder. The proof of her being flogged.

Strengh, anger, hatred greets those who step forth to her, but the ones that maketh past see the woman under the armor. She upholds courage, but not a fools courage, she prides herself on her ability for witty resolve, and cunning tactics.

From first light Alysa was alone abandon upon birth, left upon the stairs of the first order. An order of knights of a forgotten alliance, left to do their own bidding upon the lands. Traing in the ways of combat, incursions, and deceit. They grew in number and desire and Alysa was one that fueled their desire and helped them grew in number by being offered to new recruits. She learned hatred, callous but also how to fight, use her form to gain the upper hand, to spot one weakness and use it against her opponent.

Upon her eighteenth birthday the order turned into itself. Greed and power hunger turned deadly as the order fell into inner chaos. Alysa grabbed the opportunity to kill the man that claimed her as his bitch and freed herself from the orders tyranny.

She now travels the lands hunting down those that are oppressed in the grips of tyranny and frees those that wish to be free. Her battle has brought her to bare against the hands of slavers where she has been captured and sold many times but her resilience and strength managed to win her freedom. Now on her 27 year of age, she walks free.

I’m just wondering about this part.

I like the posts, but it doesn’t really go with the idea of us being an established group. I’m not sure what Della has planned for us and if works if we just met. Maybe you could make those posts so it describes how and why you joined the group instead. But maybe it isn't necessary.

I’m fine with either way, just let me know what you think is best. I just don’t want to complicate things further by posting. Looking forward to playing with you.

Very good answer, I totally agree. I didn't mean it as critique and LoR-movies would be pretty terrible movie if it was only 10 minutes of plot before the last 30 minutes. I already hate (maybe more a slight feeling of disappointment, than actual hate) that they cut out Tom Bombadil.

This way there can be some more distrust between at the beginning. Maybe she will teach Ravin that in order to survive you sometimes have to fight dirty and doing the honorable thing might lead to death, before he learns to trust her.

Anyway am I wrong in assuming that Alysa is an assassin of some kind, or at least something between that and a warrior? Either way I plan on making Ravin’s view of the order negative.

Your assumption of Alysa is correct as she is a little of both. The order was one of Tranny built by fallen knights and joined by rows of assassins. Sota like the league of assassins in the show arrow..I hope that helps you get a little picture of the order. Basically all round negative influence. That will help fuel the mistrust that you spoke of..
