Don't Mess With The Mouse....

Looks like the Disney corporation likes to limit its corporeal manifestations ...

So, what they want is to control all aspects of animated films? Sorry Mr Mouse, ita can't and WON'T happen.

It's not the first time they've done something like that!

Anyone heard of Princess Mononoke? Probably the greatest japanese animation ever made....Disney bought the rights to it and got people like Gillian Anderson and Claire Danes to do the voice, and Neil Gaiman rewriting the script. All the while they said they were going to release it America and Europe wide.

So imagine the surprise when it only got an arthouse release. And ARTHOUSE release. That mean's the most they could gross from it was a few thousand dollars maybe? After such large investment into dubbing it in English? Does anyone smell a rat?

CB, I was browsing a message board full or irate fans when it came out in America, all bitchin about the limited release :)

The theory behind it is pretty simple....basically if Disney released it and it became a huge hit, then that's another kick in the tooth for Disny. Imagine that, JAPANESE animation becoming known as being far superior to it's own. They'd be all running to the toilets or to the open windows on the 20th floor...

I guess so CB....it's just that Disney has been so godawful the last few years I think they're desperate :)

Hey! Toy Story 2 was pretty freaking good.

I LIKED MULAN, I heard Tarzan was excellent, and have they put out anything more recent?

Tarzan was REALLY good. That Atlantis movie they have in the works looks pretty good too. The Emperors New Groove was their last animated movie in theatres, I think. Didn't see it myself though. Dinosaur would have been better without the Dinos talking, but had some good effects.

Toy Story 2 isn't even made by Disney...

I thought Tarzan was average, so was Hercules, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King....still haven't watched Mulan....

The Emperor's New Groove is a departure from traditional Disney fare, but the best thing they've put out since Aladdin. They seem to do comedies very well, but don't make enough of them.....this is all in my own cynical British opinion though! :D

I like disney in a cutsie kind of way but when I want a really good animated film then its Manga all the way, but I will say this about manga, sometimes the stories can be a bugger to follow.

Actually, Toy Story was made by Disney.. Dreamworks (?- if this is the name I'm thinking of) is a subsidiary of Disney and if you buy the Fantasia2000 video, you'll see I speak the truth. :) So was "Dinasour" the computer-generated animated film that combined real life footage with computer-generated animation. I considered that a phenomenal breakthrough.

The Lion King is one of my favorite Disney flicks.
The Emperor's New Groove sucked.. so did Hercules.. but Mulan was decent.

Comedies? Disney is known for always creating some sort of tragedy in their films. Look at Disney films from the original "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and you'll see that the main character is always without either a mother or father - or that the mother/father figure dies during the story... and/or betrays them in the end.

The "Atlantis" trailors hint at Disney greatness, but we'll just have to wait and see.

The company was Pixar and I believe Disney bought it instead of developing it themselves...

Also Pixar were soley responsible for creating Toy Story, and Disney did not have any significant creative input as far as i know....

No point arguing which films are better because it will just be circular and boring :)

ahhh Pixar!

that's right! And, to be honest, I would have to do more research in order to voice my opinion on the subject of whether or not Disney had input into the making of these films. But thanks for the name.

And, you're right. No use in debating good vs. bad in Disney films due to the subjective nature... although I still find it hard to believe that you found "The Emperor's New Groove" to be good. hehe

hmmm...

reviewing the threads that you've started regarding Asian women with small breasts.. seems like I might be out of my league here, darlin'. ;-)

I'm a David Spade fan just like the next person but that movie SUCKED! hehehe

And, not a huge anime fan, but somewhat. I suppose I should have the fetish you have to truly enjoy them, eh?

Hey I like women as long as they turn me on....just that I have preference for Asian women what with me being asian an all :)

And in anime all the women tend to have large breasts and funny coloured hair...but somehow all the most enticing...
