I stuck my nose in two books last night, then obsessed about how they were written. Both writers were popular, best sellers, and critically acclaimed, but my mind got stuck in how they wrote, and I ceased to care about the story.
In one book a character wasn't plausible (a problem I have with female writers is the sissy-pansy men they depict). Sissy came to mind and I deleted the book. I don't wanna think ELLEN when I read about guys. To most women ELLEN is the perfect man. In the other book the writer got the men right but the lead female character reminded me of Hillary Clinton, the smartest ballbreaker in the book. The woman was excellent elsewhere but a bitch with other cops. I swear her voice changed from Julie Andrews to Barry White or Darth Vader. I go to WTF Land when that happens.
