I saw this item in PARADE today........

"Reach out and help someone by donating your old
cell phone"

TO QUOTE:
*Are you wondering what to do with that old cell phone?
Sprint, the National Organization on Disability (NOD),
and Easter Seals want to use them to help Americans
with disabilities through a drive called Project Connect.
Sprint stores and many Easter Seals offices are now
accepting donations of any model or brand of phone
from any wireless carrier (you'll receive a tax write-off
slip.). The phones will be recycled--logos removed
and parts replaced--and resold in countries where older
phones are in high demand. Proceeds will be donated
to Easter Seals and NOD. To find a drop-off location near
you, visit www.sprintpcs.com * END QUOTE

All for a good cause folks......I'd say its worthwhile....I have
my old cell phone sitting here gathering dust, so I'm
definitely going to check this out!! Pass the word on!!

This is a great organization.

My boss last year who is one of those people who will throw something away once it has gone out of style asked me to dump 2 PCS phones, because he just purchased a newer model.
I was like huh? since they both retailed at about $350.00 a piece (I'm guessing because they were nice phones only a year old). Then he also told me to get rid of some antiquated flip phones, and the tiny motorola digital he had about.

I really had no idea what to do with them, cause it seemed impractical to me to throw something like this in the trash.

So I travelled around with them in my truck for a bit and found out about this non-profit. I just turned them in, filled out the inventory and they gave me a receipt for the donation.

Wow! $1,000 bucks

All this because, he had such a throwaway attitude.

I know I should have let him in on it, but what he doesn't know....

that is really awesome you saved those old cell phones!!
at least YOU got the tax writeoff, and not he!!!

Just a little too late...

I just gave my "old" cell phone to a friend to use instead... He was thinking of buying a new one, but I "talked him into" using mine instead. If I'd known about this before, I would have encouraged him to get the new one, and donated mine. Ah well. I'll keep this in mind for the next time I get a new cell.

Amiss

It's okay........Jaded1 threw out his old cell phone a few
months ago and I chastised him the other day for
doing that........ah well........I never about this donation thing
until I read that article......
