Donald Trump was not invited to the party in California.
The Koch brothers did not want him there.

For the first time, journalists were allowed to attend the event at the St. Regis Monarch Beach luxury resort in Dana Point, a wealthy California suburb.

But the journalists covering the three-day event, held at a luxurious California resort, had to agree to an unusual restriction. They weren’t allowed to report the names of any of the 450 donors attending without the individual’s permission.

ThinkProgress obtained a copy of the conditions sent by Freedom Partners to reporters.

These included demands that reporters “not report on anyone’s attendance at the event unless you are specifically granted an interview request or they are a part of the formal program,” that they “treat their attendance as off the record unless otherwise discussed and approved prior to an interview,” and that “interview requests should only be made through the Freedom Partners communications team.

It also noted that media attendees would have to “stay off-site,” and only be granted access “on-site during the general program hours.”

Only the reporters who agreed to the following provisions would be allowed to attend:

We would like to invite you to cover this private event; however, we ask that you agree to the ground rules below.

1) Media credentials will be given to those covering the event on-site. These credentials must be prominently displayed at all times. Credentials are non-transferable.

2) You have been invited to cover the program, general mood of the event and interviews with program participants, elected officials, and leaders from each group represented at the seminar.

3) The program is strictly pen and pad, with the exception of the one-on-one Policy Leader Discussions with Govs. Bush and Walker and Sens. Cruz and Rubio. Freedom Partners will also livestream the Policy Leader Discussions. We will work with you individually to meet any requests outside of these guidelines.

4) Given the privacy rights of our members and other guests, you may not report on anyone’s attendance at the event unless you are specifically granted an interview request or they are a part of the formal program. You are to treat their attendance as off the record unless otherwise discussed and approved prior to an interview.

5) Out of respect for all event attendees, interview requests should only be made through the Freedom Partners communications team. We are more than happy to help facilitate these requests and help you secure interview opportunities.

6) Media will stay off-site and be granted access on-site during the general program hours.

7) We trust that you will abide by these ground rules and, therefore, we want to allow you to walk around freely at those sessions that will be open to the media. However, not all sessions will be open to media and we expect that you will respect this parameter by not attending or trying to attend closed press events.

Our team will be happy to debrief you on closed press meetings and provide you with information that will help inform your stories.

How many journalists were not invited ?

How many Republican hopefuls were not invited ?

John Kasich is not welcomed.

Last year, he traveled to Southern California to appear on a panel at a conference sponsored by the Republican mega-donors Charles and David Koch. At one point, according to accounts provided by two sources present, Randy Kendrick, a major contributor and the wife of Ken Kendrick, the owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks, rose to say she disagreed with Kasich’s decision to expand Medicaid coverage, and questioned why he’d expressed the view it was what God wanted.

The governor’s response was fiery. “I don’t know about you, lady,” he said as he pointed at Kendrick, his voice rising. “But when I get to the pearly gates, I’m going to have an answer for what I’ve done for the poor.”

The exchange left many stunned. About 20 audience members walked out of the room, and two governors also on the panel, Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, told Kasich they disagreed with him.

The Ohio governor has not been invited back to a Koch seminar — opportunities for presidential aspirants to mingle with the party’s rich and powerful — in the months since.

OC!

When I was informed Orange County supporters of Bernie Sanders' presidential bid were protesting the Koch brothers Saturday, I had to know why.

After all, Dave and Chuck Koch are successful industrialists who are really involved in making America a better place ... for successful industrialists. So I asked a random person happening by if she knew why OC Sanders supporters would be so down on the Kochs.

"We the people are protesting big money in the government. The Koch brothers are hosting several members of the GOP presumably to donate money to their super PACs and talk to them about their agenda for the future of America which involves destroying then privatizing Social Security, voter suppression, changing the age of retirement to 70, non labeling of GMOs, the Trans Pacific Partnership, re-segregation of schools, all while supporting union busting, foreclosing homes and pollution.

They fully support the Keystone XL pipeline, and one of their plants is in litigation for polluting its area and causing cancer in the nearby residents, and [they] donate millions to universities with the agreement to hire their trained people and distribute Koch agenda-friendly syllabi.

These guys pledged $60 million in the 2012 election to try to eliminate President Obama. They have already pledged several hundred million for our next election and do a lot of these activities through their 'Americans For Prosperity' group which is really a cover for their agenda.

"We oppose government that is for sale and we believe that most of the presidential candidates in the Republican party have been bought and paid for to march to the Koch brothers' agenda. We want the government to be returned to the people and protest that they have given Scott Walker almost a billion dollars to be their puppet.

"That was a lot but we are determined to support Bernie Sanders and give the government back to the people!!!"

Wow, what are the odds that the random person I would ask about the Koch heads would turn out to be Jeni Havill, an Orange County organizer for Bernie Sanders? It's Socialist kismet, baby!

Havill, who really does end some sentences with triple exclamation marks, goes on to inform that the protest will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Niguel Road in Dana Point.

Erick Erickson, the leader of conservative activist group RedState, disinvited Trump from the group's forum this weekend. You can read Erickson's full explanation about the snubbing here, but in essence, Trump bashed one of his colleagues and friends, and that's not cool, Bro. Oh sure, there's the whole infuriating misogynistic aspect—as Erickson put it, "while Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross"—but Erickson is no gentleman himself. He has a long history of spouting just as much hateful garbage about women as Trump, as many people on Twitter have been pointing out.

So far this election is THE TRUMP SHOW. He dominates the news 24/7. A black writer from the Washington Post says Trump is the only candidate who doesn't come across as a de-balled politician, and says what all believe is true.

FOX wants a 3rd Bush king but stepped in shit with Trump. Trump wont be on FOX today, but Donald will be everywhere else on the tv. Chris Wallace plans to interview Earl the FOX grounds keeper today, and talk about shuffleboard with some retirees from Suffolk County.

I expect FOX will offer Trump a human sacrifice to appease him. Megan? Bret? Some head will fall.

who gives a rats ass about Megan Kelly?

who gives a rats ass about Megan Kelly?

Not many, it seems. Her problem is: She cant appear on all the Sunday talk shows and Trump can. She needs guests, and Trump don't. I mean, she'll get the 7 dwarfs but none of the varsity players.

Trump is still 150% smarter than cuckold obama

The 7 dwarfs were eliminated from the race by Carly Fiorina but now Lindsey Graham, one of the dwarfs, is racing about like Chicken Little proclaiming how Trump is dead. Trump dies every week then rises like Phoenix on Monday when the polls come out.

Don't look now.....

Donald Trump made the surprising announcement Saturday afternoon that he was firing his top adviser, Roger Stone, but, hours before that, the political consultant’s friends told POLITICO that he was actually quitting.
“Sorry @realDonaldTrump didn’t fire me- I fired Trump. Diasagree with diversion to food fight with @megynkelly away core issue messages,” Stone, referencing Trump’s battle with a moderator of Fox’s Republican debate Thursday, said just before 3 p.m. on Twitter.
Story Continued Below
Later in the day, Trump’s campaign denied the claims from Stone and his friends and said he was fired the night before. Conspicuously silent: The usually voluble Trump, whose Twitter feed said nothing of the controversy Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Stone’s friends told POLITICO that he sent an email to Trump announcing his decision to leave the campaign. More than an hour later, Trump told a Washington Post reporter he fired Stone. The news coincidentally hit Twitter about 15 minutes after Stone told a Fox News TV show that he couldn’t appear Saturday because he was no longer affiliated with the campaign, friends say.
“I can’t believe Roger got out-Trumped, that he got out-Stoned,” one of Stone’s friends said. “Roger’s mistake was trusting Donald and not establishing a clear record that he was resigning first.”
Regardless of who resigned or was fired first, the campaign shakeup was the first sign that Trump’s election effort was seriously damaged from within after his Thursday night debate performance and his subsequent comments in which he attacked one of the Fox debate moderators, Megyn Kelly.

the point is?

He is who he is, lets see how this all shakes out....My guess is they want Jeb, Hillary should mop the floor against him...It would be, Bush, Bush, and more Bush......Trump is a harder contest, although since he alienated the woman vote, who knows..... He is no politican, thats for show

Trump would be an easier victory than Bush by a mile. Bush's only real issue he has to deal with is distancing himself from George. Nobody hates his father and he's overall shown himself to be pretty decent at least in everything I've seen for him thus far.

Jeb is boring....because his name is Bush, some think he is the best candidate with a certain pedigree maybe. Thats Hillary as well, because she married Bill....same shit. Personally, we shouldnt allow familes to rule the White House. No more Bush' no more Clintons....and get ready, no more Obama's. You just know Michelle will dip her toe into the political world, perhaps her kids one day. And speaking of that, here comes Chelsea

I agree that Jeb is boring and that his name value brings something to the table that many of them lack. But of the candidates that are out there he's boring for the right reasons or more accurately most of them are exciting for the wrong ones. They are crazy sons of bitches.

Nobody denies that Hillary owes much if not all of what she is to her marriage. Which isn't to say she didn't earn it as well. There is only so far that riding Bill Clinton would get you and the rest had to come from her.

I'm 100% in agreement that we shouldn't allow families to rule. If the election turns into Clinton v Bush I say we make them co-dictators for life and stop bothering with sham elections instead focusing on something else, anything else to be honest. Though at this point it's too early to even joke about Obama's being locked out. I've never heard any hints that Michelle has any political aspirations and his kids are still what? Twenty odd years out from being able to run and that's if they did it at 35? Sorry I'm not going to claim that I think we should never allow someone from the same family. Just not like this. Seriously though I don't expect to ever hear about Michelle ever again after Obama leaves office. Chelsea is a real possibility but she's still got a ways to go and honestly if her mother doesn't win I'm not sure I care about that either.

Now as with everything I could be wrong. Sometimes I read the signs wrong but so far my predictions have been fairly spot on with the debatable exception of Obama v Hillary. I made no official predictions but I won't pretend I was expecting Obama to come out on top of that.

I dought old Bill does that anymore.....

Like you've outlawed the possessive form? It's also "doubt".

Anyway, there's no legally allowable test for office. You can't be excluded. Age is the only barrier. Besides when you see names like "Bush", "Cruz", or "Trump" you should pretty much know they're hacks.

I don't know what's wrong with the name Cruz to be honest. And Bush sr and Jeb are by and large sane, the reason to keep them out of office has more to do with not establishing dynasties than them being by default bad (and that goes for Hillary as well. Since apparently the fact that I don't state that in every goddamn post means I support Hillary.)

I'm truly interested to see how this all shakes out in the end. There's no doubt in my mind that I'm voting dem, but the Republican party could actually pull something out if they stopped trying to alienate voters that aren't rich white christian men over the age of 25.

Although I have to say that I don't like the idea of families continuing to control the white house. Creeps me out a bit. Bush especially seems like he's only gotten as far as he has because of name recognition. Clinton too. Nowadays the most bankable candidates are the ones with name recognition. I guess I just wish that dodd frank and citizens united had never happened, but that's just wishful thinking.

Do you suppose their strategy is to push forward the crazies so that the one kept in the vest pocket will seem so much better when he's eventually brought out?

Do you suppose their strategy is to push forward the crazies so that the one kept in the vest pocket will seem so much better when he's eventually brought out?

What if Donald Trump is secretly a sleeper agent sent by the Clintons to make all of the republican candidates look crazy? Then when his mission is accomplished, he runs third party and splits the Republican ticket, leading to an easy Clinton victory...

*Takes off tin-foil hat*

Bush especially seems like he's only gotten as far as he has because of name recognition. Clinton too.

I think that someone can only say this about Hillary Clinton if they were too young for the era represented by Lurleen Wallace, where wives were turned to place hold for their husbands either because he couldn't run again or he was dead and the same tight group who reigned through him wanted to continue business as usual. Hillary Clinton has always had the drive of a national-level politician in her own right, and was, I think, both the strategist and the "push" behind Bill's political career. That's not a value judgment on how she has performed her role but, I think, a look at reality on why the Clintons got to where they got. It took his laid-back charm and her drive to go for the jugular. In her younger days, women weren't running for offices at the national level at all. She had to live through her husband until she could step out on her own, which she has done.

To say that she's only gotten to where she has because of Bill Clinton is, I think, a gross underestimation of her--but if it's a Republican making this judgment, I think that's a good thing. They probably will never know what hit them.

I agree... Al Gore now thinking of entering the race, wouldnt that be something
