Someone mentioned the subject to me very recently so I thought that I would bring it up for discussion once again.

What are your thoughts, observations, fantasies, etc... about the voice aspect of domination?

I think the only person here currently that's heard mine is Gracie and she said I had a squeaky, thin, shaky voice that sounded like I was on the verge of crying while in the middle of a meth bender.

I think it is the way one uses their voice and the choice of words that conveys the Dom aspect much more than the voice itself.

I had heard small women Dommes that scare the hell out of me and send me to sub space in a way some low base male can never do.

I think voice can be a good part of it. I'll never forget the nights that we played with Shauntanis and his pet. Both of our toys were looking at eachother with a sweet longing for eachother and we decided to make them both beg to be with eachother. My sweeet darling love doens't beg (like someone else I know who seems to have no interest in seeing my nipples oiled up). I'm not so good at the BIG BAD voice thing so I let Shaun take over. Ooooh it got me all wet. I would love to be able to have that kind of presence in my voice.

Maybe I'm just off but I have noticed that my voice does change depending on mood and intent. It's not something that I do purposefully, that is to say that I don't try to pull off a kind of theatrical performance with voice.

In just normal day to day activities with friends there is nothing special going on with the voice. If I am turned on and feel in a seductive mood though I slow down the speech and enunciate more clearly with smoother tonality and a bit more mellow timbre. If I'm angry I use very short, to the point statements.

It seems to be more of a subconscious projection of your desires, mood and intent when your voice changes to emphasize your point. NLP practitioners refer to it as a hypnotic voice as it captures your attention but they also bring up that somewhere around only 7 percent of communication is the actual words you say. The rest is non-verbal and tonality aspects of voice fall into that non-verbal communication.

Maybe I'll be learning about the different ways voice plays into communication. I just did my degree plan for my communications focus. I chose Organizational and corporate communication/public Relations. Maybe someday I'll be the person you see on TV saying " We have no comment at this time" LOL I'm sooooo excited

I think it has as much to do with the person 'listening' as it has to do with deliverence. All the natural inflections of a Dominants voice for me are preferable when addressing me. I am 'wired' very sensitive it doesn't take a huge change of inflection . Having said that I really have no 'say' in it. I think if a forced tone which came off as 'play acting' I would struggle with focus. Thankfully I have never experienced that in my relationships.

As you have stated Betticus there is much more to communication than auditory alone.

For me, it's not so much voice as tone. Does that make sense? I've heard very few men who couldn't adopt a tone of voice, as opposed to a different voice, that didn't make me quiver... mmm...

You have to use the instrument God gave ya. My voice is trained, and I have used it to great advantage over the years. I purposely use it quietly and delibrately with slave because it is much more effective that way.

In fact, I rarely raise my voice with my submissives. I am much more menacing when I am quiet.

Ooooh, I was just thinking about "Dom voices" today! I'm a very aural person, and I adore hearing voices of any kind. I love B.'s voice, especially. It's deep and quiet and full of strength. I've never heard him raise his voice. The first night we played together, he looked at me and said, "My voice turns you on, doesn't it?" He knows it drives me crazy and does his best to make it as rough on me as possible! *Drools* (Now I have this overwhelming urge to go call him, even though I know he's at work and won't answer his phone, just so I can listen to his voice mail. Pathetic!)

I'm a very audio person, I can be totally attracted to a man who's got a sexy voice, but is otherwise not sexy, but I've never been attracted to a man who doesn't have a sexy voice. He can be flat out gorgeous, but he has (for instance) a squeeky voice, then I just wanna giggle.

That said I don't think that only people with sexy voices can dominate.

K has a tone of voice that works wonders on me (and the kids). And it's not a yell. When he's yelling at me, I yell back.

it's not so much the voice but the inflections and the look in someone's eye when they are telling me to do something.

although there is One with a voice that can make me fall to my knees immediately.
