No, this is not role play.
Pirate's Den is a group chat where Dom's can chat with other Doms, show off their subs, or interact with other Dom's subs. As opposed to playing around on the threads, this is more "real time." The chatting platform is to be determined based on majority (kik or skype).
Maybe you're a Dom who's busy or unavailable, you don't have to leave your sub hanging because another Dom can look after her.
Maybe you're a sub whose Dom is busy or unavailable, here, you can find a temporary Dom to play with.
Think of it as a Dom hangout, or a place where subs can find Doms.
A word of caution however, I predict that the chat will predominately be populated by Doms, and as such, any subs that dare to enter is essentially entering a Pirate's Den. There are no rules on how other Doms may treat you. The only rule that applies in the Pirate's Den is that everyone must be over 19 years of age.
DOM/DOMME'S
The selection criteria for Dom's is quite simple, at this point in time, I prefer to chat with Doms that have female subs. The rationale for that is so that we are all interacting with people whom share the same sexual orientation. You can be a male or female Dom/Domme. However, you must currently have a sub. Dom/Domme's entry requirement is posting your sub's picture in this thread, holding up a sign with your username with "Pirates's Den" as proof that your sub is consenting to coming into the Pirate's Den with you.
Subs
The entry requirement for subs however, is a tad more stringent. As I have mentioned before, though I cannot stress this enough, subs must be over 19 years of age. Subs must be female and post a picture in this thread holding up sign that says "Pirate's Den." This is to prove that you are applying for entry willingly. Whether the sub decides to show her face is entirely up to her. Please note that not all subs will be granted entry into the Pirate's Den. Admission will be determined by the Pirate Council (more on that below) on whether the sub is admissible.

Currently, at the time of posting this, I am the only person on the Pirate Council. Any Dom/Domme's that wish to join me on the council can contact me via Kik or Skype, my contact information is below. There are 6 other spots available on the Pirate Council.

Once you have submitted your application for admission, please wait for further instructions on how to join the group chat.
