We are fostering a 6 month old American bulldog mix. She is extremely fearful and not housebroken or leash trained. She has been with us for about 8 days and although she is comfortable in one corner of a room, she won't venture out even for threats. My concern is that she won't get adopted. She's too big for us to keep in our townhouse. Advice?

One of our rescues was like this when we first got her. She was housebroken, but terrified and sat in the corner and would just watch the room. She needed a very gentle hand to feel safe and our older dog was a big help because they became friends and ultimately a bonded pair. Obviously you aren’t in that same situation as a foster parent, but do you have another dog or is the rescue the only dog?

Do you Facebook? If so, this is an amazing page to ask for help and resources. Only licensed behaviorists and vets are allowed to reply: https://www.facebook.com/groups/463000877973680/?ref=share

We have an 8 year old rescue dog but she is very jealous and no help at all. We have been extremely gentle with her but she might have been traumatized before she came here.

Thank you for the FB site info, I'll check it out.

the best thing to do is to borrow a good dog to teach her by example or have a trainer over to teach her.
