Delightful topic for a porn board :)

How do you deal with the doings?
I've always been a bag & binner, but I'm contemplating a buried, composting disposal system. Either enzymes, or a worm/enzyme combo, to save on landfill and stinky bins.

Does anyone here have any experience of this?

I dont think shit really takes up much space in a landfill. It biodegrades pretty quick.
Which is also why I'd question using enzymes to bury. Why? It's shit. Let it go naturally and fertilize.

I live in a forest.

They shit at the back door.

The grass is not greener there...

Edward almost fills a standard bin bag each week. Charles, maybe a little over half that. Add to that the bags, which are going to slow down the breakdown significantly. Not good. That's a lot of landfill for one household!

Again, it's a lot of shit. Whatever I bury it in is going to fill up before the shit breaks down, unless I either make it absolutely fucking huge, or I use enzymes and/or worms.
It's a smallish, bungalow garden, and two big dogs. If I simply bury it I'm quickly going to run out of room. I don't want to be digging into shit to bury shit.

A buried composting bin seems the obvious solution.

Use the neighbors' yards.

Feed them a smaller portion of better quality dog food.
Yes, I'm sure that somewhere there's a magical food that will ensure mastiffs shit like chihuahuas.
Make sculptures then glaze.
That's a genius idea! I wonder if I could train them to circle as they crap, to make those pots. They'd make stunning ashtrays!

Funnily enough, the house on one side is empty... If I was a bad person, I'd just start flying it over the fence.

I have tiny dogs.....their turds just kind vanish into the grass in like 2-3 days or after a good rain.

The plus side of small dogs. I'm jealous.

We actually had that conversation at the shelter, when he first spotted Edward. The first words from his mouth were, "Oh my god! What is THAT? He's awesome!", and the first words from mine were, "Do you have any idea how much that thing will shit‽".

LOL.....by train of though I can see you knew you would be taking care of it.

I told mine until they started taking care of what they already have they aren't getting anything else...because at 2 giant cats, 2 small dogs, a flock of chickens and a fish room I'm absolutely maxed the fuck out.

It was not a facetious suggestion: https://www.dailydogstuff.com/best-dog-food-for-less-poop/

Another type of ingredient that doesn't help is fiber. Some examples of fiber are beet pulp, soybeans, and many grains. It's often included in foods to help your dog digest the meal better. Fiber is also used in diet foods to help your dog lose weight.

While it may provide some positive benefits, extra fiber will only make your dog poop more frequently. A wild canine's diet usually consists of only 6% fiber. Dog foods, however, often contain upwards of 30%.

You have large dogs. Dog food is expensive and you go through a lot of it. You would go through 25% less and the waste would be reduced 25% if you had them on a lower fiber content product. Whole grains sounds "healthy" rice or none is better.

Unless your current brand is already low in fiber and highly digestible.. . .

In that case. . .

. . .you are shit out of luck.

2 choices here.

1. Flush it. Your poo has to go somewhere, why not the dogs?

2. Composting. A rotary composting bin and water will quickly make it break down once you have a good compost base going in the bin. You DO compost your biodegradable kitchen waste don't you?

The plus side is that you get organic compost for your garden out of the deal. Which means that instead of the dam dogs making a mess in your garden, they're actually helping it to look nice.

I suspect the volume will get to be a bit much, and the manure content too high. Even the Boytoy with the giant cock cant possibly eat enough greens (does he even eat greens) to get the ratio for garden compost right.

I think you are on the right track, though. Solicit kitchen trimmings from the neighbors for the compost pile, leave off the explanation that you are solving a dog poo problem, then give the compost away every couple of months as batches mature.

Alternatively, have the kids bag it an sell it. The neighbor will pay to take the poop off their hands.

Flushing it might be an option but a Mastiff's poo? Keep a plunger at the ready.

All she needs is a laundry deep sink and one of those kitchen spray nozzles in the "potting" area of the garden. Make sure the sink drain has a strainer to keep things where they need to be while washing the problem away.

Composting dog shit is disgusting as far as I'm concerned

Also, todays landfills do not break down and compost.
They are clay lined bowls that hold garbage and toxins and keep it from leaching into the ground.
Recycling plastics, etc and garden waste areas are what we now do to keep landfills from filling too quickly. All the stuff that is no good for anything goes to the landfill and stays there forever.

If you do have a way of composting dog shit to keep it out of the landfill that would be commendable.
I have a small (crazy)dog...bin it

Dragging it indoors, then clogging up the toilet... Too much yuck factor.

We don't have any composting as yet. The back garden has only just been cleared, and we're still at the planning stage. Besides, with two big dogs there's very little food waste! They absolutely love their fruit and vegetables. Obviously I'll have to supplement the bins once they're in place though...

The poop composting systems don't work the same as the regular composting you're picturing. It's something between a compost bin and a septic tank. Most of it is buried, you have a rubble pit below to speed drainage, and holes around the sides to allow earthworms to spread the goodness underground. Hopefully we never have to empty it! I'm planning on two, do that we can give one a chance to clear if it clogs.

Well there is your problem with regard to volume.

Your solution to that problem seems like it should work.

So what do you do carry that shit through the house to the bthroom on a shovel?:(

One could install a cleanout into the sewer system along the outside of the house adjacent to the bathroom and dump it in there and follow that up with a blast from a garden hose.

Two large dogs here. The lawn (rather large) gets mowed every 5 days. It just gets mulched into the grass. It's not noticed, so I guess it is not a problem.

My former dog, the properties had woods in the backyard. She was trained to go in the woods. She was quite adamant about going there and she never did her business on the lawn. She was also trained to be off leash.

There are companies that come and pick up the poop. Not sure what they do with it.
