Does today finish it?

Probably not...

I know it's going to take DAYS for the adrenalin to drain out of my system! And if Cal prop 8 gets passed I will develop Tourettes, I swear.

one of the people on a co-writing project flounced off yesterday. I got this sad little email this morning from one of the others, saying; "What's the problem?" I said "election nerves," and get a reply saying; "THAT makes sense!'

If prop 8 dies, I will breathe a huge sigh of relief and probably buy a bottle of champagne. Wanna come down and share?

If the Dems are short of 60 Senate seats, my favorite governmental condition of gridlock is safe and I'll feel better.

If Obama wins, I will nod approvingly. If McCain wins I will hope for his good health!

Adrenaline, though, isn't in my political makeup. I save it for Cape buffalo and great white sharks. ;)

I know that there are some very important things that will be decided in the election cycle...I'm just tired of the bitter name calling and...

Oh hum...just tired.

I did post a little story in the non-erotic section today that I might expand on into a book. It should be up in a couple of days. Some might find it and interesting read, some might not.

I'm not surprised at the division in the U.S. The neo-conservatives and their fellow travelers have been concentrating on widening and exacerbating these divisions for over thirty years.

This election simply reflects that. Hopefully, this is the dying gasp of that policy.
Amen to that. I just don't expect them to give up that easily after putting so much effort into it.

So, after today will all the political threads disappear? I'm just so tired of all of them cluttering up the board. After almost two years of mud slinging and name calling and whatever, will we finally be done, at least for three years?

Just tired of it all. Sorry.

Same here. After all of the bashing, I'm half-tempted to walk away. But perhaps the end of this election will breathe new air into the AH, after all of the toxic atmosphere of bullying dissidents and slamming the opposing camp.

A good bit of the bashing you did yourself on this forum. You were pretty outrageous. You are responsible for more than your share of the toxic atmosphere. Hope you'll turn to something else now.

Hardly. Was I angry, yes. Angry at the bashing of those of us who dissented. And I certainly expressed that anger and frustration. But I didn't bash anyone. If you'll look back, you won't find a single instance of me launched personal or defamatory attacks on a single person here. I expressed my strong dislike of the major parties and candidates, but not once I have poisoned the air with personal smears or attacks of you, despite all of the attacks done on me.

Back to ignore. So I can be civil to some people, who might deserve it.

I would be proud to be on your ignore list. Few irritated me more here in the last couple of weeks than you did with your blinders-on tripe.

You know what I find so funny about everything that has been written or said here on the AH to one another is that both sides have said, not in so many words, "you did with your blinders-on tripe". Both sides have said the same thing to each other. Which is your right and theirs. It's just funny that both sides see the other as blind to the obvious.

Yeah, hilarious.

As far as I'm concerned however, a bigot or a fool two days ago is still a bigot or a fool today.

I'm deeply relieved we managed to NOT have a leader chosen by bigots and fools today.

I laugh every time. But then I become saddened by the rhetoric.

As far as our new president goes, I never thought about the the color of his skin. And we're all fools at one time or another.

Um. When I'm a fool, I try to keep the effects limited to myself or only a few people. Not the whole nation.

And there were a number of ways bigotry made itself known in this election; Obama's skin color was only one of those.

I don't forget those things. I am not a gracious winner-- we haven't won yet.

You seem to be assuming more polarization than there is. I've posted about events I both approved of and disapproved of by both sides. Note that in one of the very few threads I even started, I started one saying I thought Palin did just fine on SNL--and I started off being quite complimentary to McCain and backed off on that in the same degree he upped his bad behavior. I also occasionally posted aspects of Obama (and Clinton, for that matter), that disturbed me. Much of the polarization here is only in the perceptions of the posters who don't happen to agree with a specific posting. (I've got LaJoke posting a thread down there lumping me with JBJ and amicus as a conservative reactionary, for christ's sake.)

I reject the "both sides" notion altogether. There are lots of sides and some of us represent different aspects of several "sides."

Boxlicker, however, was one who preconceived a side and then made up a story to serve it. And Severusmax trumpeted a philosophy which is quite blatantly showing itself as defunct in the current economic crisis and then forced it down our throats ad nauseum (and has resumed doing to today).

I saw that. Almost responded. Then decided to make MORE use of that "ignore" function. :D

I'm sure tomorrow, someone else will post the last political thread. Then the day after, another person will announce their final political thread. Getting the picture? If you don't want political threads, then STFU about them. :)

Maybe I should have qualified my statement a little better...all sides...every side...everyone's side...whatever side you think you're on.

Whatever.

I have LaJoke on ignore so I have know idea what he's thinking or saying and could care less.
