Does this normally happen?

I finally after some initial difficulties got my first (really short) story published here. Is it normal for new stories from new authors to get more than a thousand views and get the hot tag with in less than a week?
Sorry if this sounds stupid but I’m slightly panicking at the amount of views my stupid little thing I wrote in half a day got…

Yes. It is.

As soon as you get that little red H next to your story, it's gonna keep going and going and going for days.

By the time your "silly little story" starts to drop down the lists, more than ten thousand people will have enjoyed it.

What is your story called?
It seems a bit foolish that you can’t find peoples work from their profile on this site. Unless I’m missing something obvious

Congratulations! Both on publishing your story, and on its success!

I see your story is in BDSM, a category that I know absolutely about. But I can tell you that some categories get huge amounts of traffic, and some almost none. I have stories in Reviews & Essays, for example that are unlikely to ever crack the 1k mark. My newest story is in Chain Stories, and that's going the same way. Even Sci-Fi & Fantasy can be very hit and miss, and I'd take 1k views any day of the week.

Your story has a strong title that invites readers to click on it. That's more important than your track record here: there are hundreds of thousands of readers on Lit, and the vast majority don't bother to follow authors. They just see what's new and read what catches their eye.

As for the score: yep, it's entirely deserved. You make good use of first person present tense to convey the immediacy and breathlessness of the situation. You don't let the story get bogged down in unnecessary detail: just the chase, the sex, the aftermath. Good work.

If I may offer a tip: add a link to your stories in your signature. That makes it easier for people to find them when you post on the forums.

Thanks for your feedback. Your username is a good description of how I’m handling this.
I’m not used to getting such positive feedback on anything so this has been very interesting.
I will see where I can do the signature thing.
