As you may or may not know, when the Ancient Greeks called a woman a Lesbian it meant that she was a good cocksucker, rather than a gay woman.

The reason for this is that the women of Lesbos (an island) were famous for being such. The reason Lesbian is now used for gay women is that many of the surviving poems of Sappho, an Ancient Greek poetess from Lesbos, were about love between women.
