Does the senate really need to spend time reviewing NFL bounties?

Sen. Dick Durbin is setting up a Judiciary Committee hearing about bounties in the NFL and other major sports in the wake of news that New Orleans Saints players received extra cash for hits that hurt particular opponents.

Seriously? Because there are no issues more important than this?

Lots of free time, since anything actually substantial gets filibustered.

How much time are they actually using? They seem to routinely do "silly" things that are only a waste of time if you consider every second precious. I personally don't think they should be looking into anything with the NFL but if it's just a fifteen minute whatever I don't care. It's not like they seem to have anything constructive to do.

then maybe you and yours should collectively tell Fox news to squash the story cus I promise you the liberal mass media isn't going to play this story up if Fox doesn't force em.

Hope his committee finds that the Bears had a bounty system and they hid it for years. Maybe they can suspend the entire team for a year.

Football players are crossing state lines in order to beat up other football players. It is a Federal matter.

Some want to make a name for himself, while waisting taxpayers $, state attorney will file charges soon enough.....

ESPN broke this story..you know ABC/Disney

See what I mean? Why does this story have to be about politics. Why can it not just be about the government doing something stupid yet again.....

The Senate doesn't want to concentrate on anything that matters. This gets their name in the headlines. Once the election is over then they might want to tackle real issues but they will probably begin campaigning for their next election.
