Does Sex belong exclusively to the 'pervs'

Was the whole sex 'thing' more interesting before the internet? Was it better when you had to go to a seedy sex shop with a bunch of flashers? or has it become bland and too accessible, now you can go to the Hustler store in Hollywood and get a cappuccino and a wheatgrass and hang out with some Television celebs. I think it's gone too sanitised, I think it should get back up its dark alley!!

Chuckling here, I never considered it....

It is 'cleaner' I think. In my opinion I think that TV show 'Sex In The City' has helped make it possible to talk about sex in public. I never saw the show once but know about it obviously.

I think it made sex an actual topic of conversation - maybe still not for everyone but the taboo was pushed back some. I talk with friends and when really brave a family member will almost talk with me about sex. Some folks are just far more comfortable discussing sex and the issues with it.

I've given my stories to a brother and a sister, and neither has asked for more! I only gave them the early ones too. But my sister in law asks for more!

I wish we had an adult store in my area - there was one but it was 'run out of town'. I live in the suburbs of Boston and I'd have to go into the city (and maybe the 'combat zone' of the city) to purchase toys. Kind of odd I think.

Sex is what you make it.
Well said. I agree wholeheartedly.

Define "interesting." What's interesting to me may leave one person yawning. That same thing may also freak another person out.

I've learned a lot about sex from the internet; without the internet, I wouldn't have this knowledge. Some of the things I learned I wish I could unlearn.

I've not had this experience, so I can't say for sure.

I'll take your word for it. I like that my hubby's accessible. And he's definitely not bland!

You're certainly entitled to your opinion.

Sex belongs to the pervs. Pervs are cool; perverts are creepy. And porn sex ain't real sex.

Jeeze I'd hate to imagine how little I'd know without the internet. For better or worse I suppose.

Sex is naughty!!

Sadly sex only really inhabited the dark alleys in the US, more than most places. The great contradiction of the moral majority and the centre of the porn industry. In Germany, Sweden, France and to a lesser degree the UK it was always more topical. It's a sign of the times but everything is available to everybody all the time and on a personal level it's the same as gardening or any other hobby and I suppose I'm an elitist. A friend of mine was making a documentary on the porn industry in the Valley here in Southern Cal. and now girls at high school consider it a viable career move, like working in a beauty salon, this is why porn stars thank their families after they've just notched the 'Best Blow Job In Movie' award.

Sex shouldn't be shameful, so part of me thinks it's great that it's broken down that conservative bullshit that is been around for too long. But please there must be something out there that is ready to piss off the masses, at least until Fox turns it into a mini series.

I appreciate such a well thought out response from Eilan, you are special and you care.

Watch out there is a triple X concession about to open next to Starbucks any day now. Disney will destroy the 'combat zone' as they did with 42nd St in NY

Admittedly there is something interesting when sex is a little more forbidden.

Remember when early Playboys didn't even show pubes?

Remember when pubes weren't even trimmed and everyone was bushy?

I still remember one of my dad's old porn mags and the guys couldn't even have erections in the pics!

It wasn't that long ago that porn mags couldn't show penetration.

And now? Damn! You can get just about anything and anyone doing anything and anybody... and in multiples! I think I know what you're getting at here. That heightened sense of naughtiness just adds a dash of spice into even just the most mundane sex and with the proliferation and easy access we have to it now, its naughtiness quotient has dropped.

I've always wondered what's the next kink!

Well put, sex shouldn't be forbidden, but doesn't it make it more fun when it is, we like that it's naughty, I don't want to be discussing how good the oral sex I had last night was, with my relatives in the same way I discuss my vacation. We like secrets and the internet allows us that in the comfort of our own home, but there is no sense of development. There was a thrill when I conquered my fear of entering an adult book shop and the anxiety that you might bump into someone you knew. It was part of maturing, when you made that step you were ready for "it". Now you can have it all, and I MEAN all, in an instant without the doubt and without the consequences or the emotional fallout and people forget that sex is a big emotion, the ease of it all makes sex seem superficial but more important it has taken away the illicitness of it.

From My Stand Point

My idea of perverted sex is still the ol' adult theaters. They are still in operation, there, but not the internet, you can have real sex with a real human.

As a lover of threeways I have noticed the internet has caused couples who want to be kinky, move away from picking up guys, to posting ads for other couples or bi-girls.

Agreed wholeheartedly! There should be SOME shock value or at least a blush factor when it comes to sex for it to be naughty.

As far as entering sex shops, I remember how nervous I was the first time and now I won't say it's second nature, but it's still edgy to say the least- as it should be. You never know what you might find in there or who you might bump into.

Sex still should have some sense of adventure to it!
