Does rudeness pay when it comes to debating?

An old friend of mine who's always been into Nazi sh*t but interstingly happens to also be a partisan Democrat most of the time is saying that Biden "kicked Ryan's ass" in the debate.

All I've heard about the debate is that Biden was openly rude and the moderator was also unfair to Ryan (didn't see it myself), while Ryan was a well manned serious debater. If its true that Biden "won" the debate, does that mean rudeness is now the best way to "win" a debate? Is it perhaps time to get rid of debates if its come to that level?

Gore was rude to Perot in the NAFTA debate back in the day, and the media declared Gore the "winner" at the time. History proved Perot was right in retrospect, of course.

My opinion

I believe that, on substance, the debate could be called a tie. On style, Ryan was the winner. He pretty much showed class and restraint when Biden constantly acted childish; interrupted him; made stupid facial expressions; and, talked over him.

The guy who calls liberals scum, and women " feminazis" is somehow concerned about people being rude

that's cute

Romney was called assertive when he did the same shit! This isn't Burger King, you can't always have it YOUR way!!!!

Biden could've been called the winner of the debate.

But, IMO, his antics caused irreparable damage to both himself and his boss.

Who is the fucking idiot who says debating pays?

Did that sound rude?

Well, fuck you and the podium you're hiding behind.

Did Biden lose by being too polite?

Ryan's brilliant discourse was just too much for him. Biden should have been more assertive.

...is how this would have read if the shoe had been on the other foot.

Right-fringe GB: weak, hypocritical, whiny bitches.

I don't know if rudeness pays when it comes to debating or not, but it seems to be the rule at both MSNBC and Fox. I presume somebody watches, and they make money from it, but I can't understand them when they talk over each other and change to a channel where one person talks at a time.

Everyone act surprised.

(As to the "Dem" sh*t which followed: desperate attempt at diffusion.)

Yep, I have friends across the politcal spectrum. Proudly so. I'm not an intolerant bigot such as yourself.

Obama has pretty much said he is going to be rude in the next debate.

The Republicans need to take a stronger stand regarding who the moderators are for these things. It can't be allowed to go on this way, its destroying our democracy.

And yet, I'm smarter than you. Go figure.

right, the guy that thinks the reason women and men in the Olympics cant compete with each other is that women arent good enough...is somehow smarter than me?

Is it time for another renard's greatest hits again? the year isnt even up yet

It astounds me that the Repubs cave in to accepting obvious liberal moderators.

Hey, while you're at it, how about a little indignation towards mudslinging? Or endlessly repeated commercials full of lies? Or open criticism in the middle of a national crisis?

It's a little late in the game to get all bristly about some mild rudeness.
