I really hate to ask here, but this is a plea to anyone who is familiar with installation/removal problems that bare the error title "c06d007e" to please help me sort out the issue. It's something I'm really struggling with, and needs to be dealt with ASAP. I would greatly appreciate any assistance I can get.

Problem: Application will not install or remove without fatal crash error.

Hubby says if he remembers correctly "c06d007e" is a permissions error and you need to make sure you are logged in as an administrator account for it to work.

Thanks, EL. Something ate my 'log in' option on startup a couple weeks ago, (was told it might have had something to do with adware,) but I am still the only one set up at this computer anyway. Maybe it doesn't recognize this without the startup thingie?

Could you please ask hubby if there is a way to access the log in thingie without the startup thingie to check to see if it's the thingie to which he is referring?

:)

Hubby says when your computer is booting up click F8 repeatedly till it brings up a boot menu, then select "safe mode" and then it'll take you to a screen where you can log in as admin... then you can remove "the problem thingie"

In 2000 to make sure you're an Administrator...

Go To Start
Up to Settings
Choose Control Panel
Double Click on User and Passwords
In the USERS tab, select the user you log-in as Mine is (elsol).
Click on Properties
Select the Group Memberships Tab
If you're an Administrator... in here the button all the way at the bottom will be selected and the 'pull down' will say admin...

If you need XP... I have one of those machines next to me.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Cool, EL! Hugs and kisses to you both for taking the time out to assist.

I gots XP, and am wishing I didn't about now (grrrrr.) Thanks again.

Helene -Not a problem love, My husband can never resist helping out a damsel (and her duck) in distress :)

If you're trying to install a program and you're crashing... most likely EL's HB is right. You don't have the priviliges.

If you're trying to remove a program and you're crashing... if it's not a user priviliges issue and you still have the 'original media' (disk, installation file), reinstall it and 'then' remove it.

Sometimes things go missing :)

-- Still bored, so I'm just typing away.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Thanks to you all, for trying to help. :rose: :rose: :rose:

The tips offered did indeed allow me to fix the 'log in' file error I was having on start up (thanks bunches for that), but the program is still screwed. I think (hope) I may have found a similar application that will accomplish the same thing, because I just plain give up otherwise. I have been trying to fix this problem for well over a week, and have really fallen behind in my work as a result.

Helene -What's the application? Hubster might be able to help, or may be able to suggest other similar thingies :D PM me if you want to keep it on the down low for some reason *L*

sweetie, just use something i like to call...'sledge hammer modulation'
you won't have the puter any more but then, you wont have the problem any more either.
*geeze* you've had nuffin but problems with your puter for a long while now. have you thought of maybe doing an OS reinstall?
sending positive geek vibes your way.

Vella: I just got my computer back a couple months ago after having a new hard drive put in, plus complete reformat. Grrrrrrr!!

EL: I spoke with my tech today, and it looks like I'm going to have to bring it in again. She says the problem is because when I put the program on the first time, there was a complication with the install so now any instance of the program (I have tried three different disks,) isn't co-operating. She has to go through some other method rather than a simple add/remove in order to fix it. The prog. is Adobe Elements, and I guess my computer hates it.

Sucks, because my Father's day present relied on that program. :(

Wouldn't be so bad if I could at least find a trial version of a similar program, but I don't think there is one. :(
