Does Marriage Counseling really work ?

My wife and I went to Marriage Counseling this morning. It really went well, we meshed well with the counselor and were able to talk open and honestly. I would love to hear people who have tried this and if it worked for them. Thank you.

It kept the Stud and I together.

Marital counseling works if you put effort into it. Both of you. It won't be easy and there's going to be things you aren't going to want to hear, but if you honestly work at it, it will do good things for you.

Like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it.

In order for it to work both people have to be willing. If husband or wife is unwilling they can go for counseling all they want and nothing will ever come of it.

My x and I did the counseling thing. If I had been honest and open it probably would have worked. Unfortunately I had a serious case of denial when it came to my behavior. Stick with it and be honest and open. You have much to gain by doing so.

It works if you want it to work. And, if you have a good counselor or therapist. You gotta be open to some pain and uncomfortability before some real progress is made. It can be quite scary but well worth it.

I myself have not tried this myself as i am not married, however i have a good friend who is 35 and it saved her marrage a few years ago.
If you are having problems then you have nothing to loose by trying!

Thank you all for your responses. I had a very hard time going in the first place, I am not a vocal person in RL. I was able to be very honest as was my wife, so we got a lot of things off our chests. We are both striving to make this work , not only for us, but also for the kids. Things have been strained for too long, but we both found out this week that the love is still there.
