I think many of us would love that as well. It's funny for me on some level because when I've gone in looking for that specifically, it never happened. When I went in looking for some down and dirty cyber sex, real friendship have evolved more than once. You just never know how it will play out. It does exist..sometimes. I guess it all depends on how much we need it and want it. I find that its also about timing. You are correct, we miss people all the time.
Keep looking, it will happen. Dont force it though, just be patient.

I know exactly what you mean! It can be very surprising who makes you feel those butterflies. Sometimes it's from the least likely person who initially messaged you. If you brush them off too soon, you don't realise what a gem they are. I've had so many short PMs - one liners, but if you take the time to reply, you get a bit more back and then a bit more.

Keep going. Give the guys a chance to show their true colours. It takes more than a few days to get to know someone. Sometimes more than weeks.
Those butterflies do not appear overnight, but when they do....wow!
