Judging by the lack of "Kill the Bastard" and "May he fester in Hell" and "Let's kick Arse" threads I guess not.

Or is it that without the daily dose of "war" stories coming out of Afghanistan there's nothing to keep the excitement going?

Well I guess it was a "war" made in Hollywood and the film's now over.

:(

I'm sure this whole thing will go on for a lot longer than any of us would believe.

p_p_man, you don't understand Americans very well,do you?

Our anger is righteous and terrible, but it's relatively short lived. After we're done being angry, it fades to a grim determination. Most of my brothers and sisters of America don't want to bomb Afghanistan into a sheet of glass and hang Osama bin Laden by his balls and let beetles eat him alive. They simply want to stop that sort of thing from happening ever again, or at least do their best to.

I don't. I reckon Bush will be only too pleased to wash his hands of the whole thing and walk away.

Even now he's showing sign of losing interest.

:)

Like it was yesterday.

But like many, I've moved past outrage and shock. Unfortunately, I am faced with reminders of it more often than I'd like.

I rarely feel the need to post here anymore but I think you're wrong - very wrong. We may not write about it anymore but there isn't a day that goes by that we don't do something we normally wouldn't have before Sept 11th. We take precautions we never took before. We stay closer to home, closer to our families. I'm not even an American but I had friends there who were lucky enough to get out or weren't there that day - just by luck. I don't need a hollywood production to remember what happened that day - it is cemented in my mind forever as it is in a lot of other people's minds. Even when they do catch him it won't be over - there will be someone else who will step into his shoes and take over his cause. That's the saddest part of it all.

Perhaps, to some of us, the best way to remember what happened on 9/11/01 and to honor the victims, is to move on. Life continues, whether we like it or not. And the best way to show the terrorists that they haven't crushed the American spirit is to honor the dead, grieve for them, and move on. Maintaining the high level of anger, hatred, and need for retribution that was rampant for awhile isn't healthy, and it's proof that you're stuck at some point in the grieving process.

Am I still upset? Yes. Do I want this war overwith? Yes. Do I watch the news, aching for information? No.

I have to move on with my life, with my children's lives and with the very things that the terrorists were aiming at when they took out the buildings. Otherwise, they win.

No- I'm in NY and have to deal with aftermath every day, but I totally forgot about what happened- refresh my memory...

Could anyone ever forget that day? It was probably the biggest event in American History in the past 20 years. We just dont want to think about it and discuss it on a sex board. If I want to talk about sept. 11th and the war. I will go to CNN.com. Most people come here to escape everyday problems, like the problems that are occuring in the world today.

Just to humour you ;) Bush never had any balls but his administration is first class and I think there is a quiet determination in the USA to make sure this type of thing doesn't happen again. These guys may be caught napping but I don't believe they generally get caught out the same way twice. And don't forget that El Supremo, Blair will be bidding for a 3rd term on the back of how fucking great a support he has been to world in general and the US in particular!

BTW anyone in the US who thinks Tony Blair is great let me tell you that the fucker is never here and this country is slowly going to ratshit without a leader.

Whoa - ranting - sorry guys and girls

This thread was prompted by an article in today's New York Times and although it goes against the grain for me to cut and paste, I will on this occasion.

NEWS ANALYSIS
A War of Loose Ends
By DAVID E. SANGER

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 — America's goals in Central Asia were easily explained as Kabul and Kandahar fell, when daily Pentagon videos showed bombs homing in on caves in Tora Bora and when there was a reasonable prospect that Osama bin Laden, Mullah Muhammad Omar and their top aides would soon fall into American hands.

[Edited by me]

Today, officials raised alarms about Iranian meddling in the lawless western reaches of Afghanistan and an American transport plane crashed, for still-unexplained reasons, in Pakistan. American troops were engaged in a search of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan for hundreds of Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders still at large, and what just weeks ago looked like a ruthlessly effective war from the air today looks more like police work in a bad neighborhood.

The new complexities are evident from the way Mr. Bush and his top aides speak about their challenges these days — and what they have suddenly chosen not to talk about.

[Edited by me]

Once Mr. Bush talked about the hunt for Mr. bin Laden and Mullah Omar regularly, without prompting. Now he rarely does, beyond a cursory repetition, in every speech, that sooner or later, somewhere, the United States will bring "the evil ones" to justice.

[Edited by me]

But as one senior administration official close to Mr. Bush said last week, "There's not a lot be gained by talking about them," especially when they appear to have escaped."

I clicked on one of your threads for the first time in weeks to tell you what an utter crashing little bore you are.

Never forgoten and never will..........

I live in New Jersey that is just 20 mins. to New York, I will never forget. All the people going to work that day, not knowing never to return home again. I could always see the Trade Building but not anymore so you can't forget it. The tears do come now and then yet.

So as far as I am, NO NEVER will I ever forget.:(

I still remember it. Just today, I almost started crying,(the only reason I held back because I was with my Mom,) to "Where Were You,(When The World Stopped Turning?) And, presently I'm listening to "Where The Stars & Stripes & The Eagle Fly." For Country fans, you know what I'm talking about. I just don't like wallowing in Pity. That's why there's lots less talk about it, I think.

I found myself saving and filing an article about what is legal and what isn't as far as search procedures by security at our airports. I plan to take it with me the first time I fly again. I haven't been in the air since before 9/11, but I have at least 5 trips requiring flights in my schedule for 2002 already. My non-flying days are soon to be over.

I bought my plane tickets for one of those trips today. I found myself debating what kind of plane to take (bigger? smaller commuter?) and which airport to fly in and out of. I chose Washington D.C. over a direct flight to Baltimore because the plane I wanted was on that route, and also because I'm hoping security in Washington is better. I chose flights at times which will accomodate a few extra hours for check in. No more walking in 1/2 hour before flight time just in time to get onboard.

Yup, Sept 11 affects us in day to day life.

Do I remember that day?

p_p_man....this is easily the stupidest fucking question you've ever asked. More Americans died in one single day than in any time aside from the Civil war, and you ask if we still remember?

Jesus, man...I hope to God your country, followers though they be, never have to deal with anything like this, ever.

I applaud those who answered that question with reason and good sense. I couldn't.
