Ten years ago I used to sew all my own clothes, only bought jeans and underwear... these days I don't have the time to sew.

But today I bought a pattern for a haltertop dress. I bought some cream/gold lace and I'm gonna make me a sexy dress... ;)

So do you sew your own clothes at all????

I darned a sock once..

wait.. no I damned it because it had a hole in it.. then I threw it away.

I could darn a sock if I wanted to, but I'm not going near any sock my husbands been wearing for the last six months!!

I sewed a button on.

Took me a hour...

to find the scissors and cut my finger free.

I have a flannalette (sp?) shirt that I sewed a button onto a few years ago. It wasn't an original button, but being able to button that part is more important to me than having all the colours match.

The button is STILL there (I am wearing it right now and checked (there are a few rips in it now)). There are a few threads hanging from that button, but it's still holding strong (other original buttons have since fallen off).

I must have done okay.

Here is something funny, I am a costumer and make countless costumes year round, yet I rarely make my own clothes. Probably a few times a year I will find a fabric that I absolutely must have, then I will make something for myself.
I probably should sew more of my own clothes, but time always seems to be running away from me.

my beautiful wife is a designer, so she makes all her own clothes - or rather, wears clothes she sells in her shop.

unfortunatly, she doesn't make men's clothes. damn.

I have made dress shirts for my DH in the past. A couple dresses and some baby clothes but that's about it. I really don't have time to do it anymore.

I would if I didn't have such a small flat. Once we're back in our house I plan to start again. Oh and baby clothes, I just can't wait to start making baby clothes :) got to get to work on making the baby first tho I reckon

I have not sewed since I was in home ec way back in 10th grade.

I uh broke their brand new expensive machine that just arrived that day, and well lets just say that experience was a scarring one for me.

I dont make street clothes, but I sew all my own SCA garb.... I'll have to take pictures sometime

I think most of the domestic talents went to my sister, sewing, baking bread, etc. I can embroider, used to do it all the time, but for some reason its easier to embroider while watching tv in the evenings than it is if you play on the compter. So no more piles and piles of embroidered cloth stacked in the closet until someone gets around to making it into quilts, pillows etc :D

Thank you for the explanation. If you remember to take pictures, I'd love to see them.

I vow never to buy a disposable camera again

I did some sewing just this morning, had to restich the waistband on one of my fishnet thongs(black), they hold up pretty good to every day use but this one needed some repair. kinda tricky though. They sure are comfe in the summer!!!!!!!!!!!
