Friday night...go to a movie, watch some "hotties" on the big screen...come out to really bad fog...drop of my friend...and attempt to drive home only to see 2 cars collide mere feet away from me in the fog...swerving, tires squealing...and suddenly my Rav is in the ditch, 4 feet from hitting a fire hydrant.

And I'm left crawling out a back window at midnight in the fog, and prying doors off to help get the other 5 people involved in the headon out of their cars.

What an exciting Friday night...:(

Now I am without a car (still haven't gotten my rental yet) and sore as hell. Anyone have an suggestions on easing shoulder/neck from whiplash and bruised ribs/breast bone?

nice of you to stop and help, now take care of yourself, long soak in bathtub with epsom salts, heating pad, ibuprofen and rest today. you deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ice, lots of it for the first couple of days then moist heat. Dont massage though it is tempting it can cause more bruising. And get yourself checked by a chiropractor. Also an anti inflamattory. and make sure to take extra vitamin C!

So glad you are ok Im sure it must have been terrible *hugs*:rose:

*whimpers* oh how I wish for a tub...

Finnish household, sauna is it. Though I can say that the melting heat is utterly fantastic.

Ice? really? I thought you were suppose to use heat on muscles aches.

Oh I'm soooooooooo looking forward to making a full Thanksgiving meal tomorrow... :(

oh dear...I'm glad you're ok.

Along with what the other ladies shared, I can only add the use of Capsaicin. It is an excellent deep heating rub with a pepper base. It truly works...and I've tried them all. I have had chronic tension headaches (spreading to my face, neck and back) for over 20 years, and only this and ice help.

Take care, and I do hope you feel much better very soon.

umm...rum and wine help alot, too.:D

Sore...

I'm a guy who coaches football...common problem...the general rule is ice the areas for the first 42 to 78 hours...15mins on, 15 mins off...3-4 times a day...it kills the inflamation...then rest and heating pads are your best bet...*soft kiss on your forehead* Hope you get better soon *warm smile*

yes for new injuries ice ususally helps for 24 hours or so, relieves the swelling, but i personally could never stand getting iced down. so i just skip to the heat first. and yes a nice relaxing drink also helps!!

Take some aspirin or ibuprofen, use some cold packs first to take down the swelling, then heat later. Go see a good chirproactor or orthopedist and have them take some XRAYS.

Yes, I saw a doctor right after, x-rays and the whole deal. He recommended just to not stay too still for too long...to keep stretching, rolling my head, long saunas and heated pads.

The norm...

I really hate fog...

And I really miss my Rav :(

And I really hate being sore...

*wonders who she can get to stuff a turkey*

hmm bruised ribs, i can possibly help with, try some type of muscle rub, but be careful to mush presure when applying it will make u scream i know, try not to lit anything, more then a plate etc, hmm warm baths help also, just getting in and out can be a pain and slow process at times. this might work for u, its what i did but then again i was kicked in the ribs , not in a car accident :(

2002 Toyota Rav4...

All-wheel drive in Spectra Blue...

My baby...who I put $20,000 down on in February of this year...buh bye my savings, hello Vehicle I love.

I was freakin' lucky though. The front end needs to be re-aligned, one of the side mirrors snapped against a tree, but that is one piece that needs replacing (the mirror itself is fine) and it needs to be re-wired, and the scratches aren't deep and can probably be buffed out. That is all just minor stuff. 4 feet more to the left, and I would have had major problems with that fire hydrant...and I was able to completely avoid the actual collision of the two cars, which were both pretty much write-offs. All n all, lucky...

Damn freakin fog, it felt like a movie...

The people in the actual crash faired a lot worse than I. Broken leg, quite a few broken arms, broken ribs and the one guy had a broken collar bone. Not nice at all.

Get rid of those massive fucking jugs if you want less back pain

No NO NO NO NO. Totally wrong answer Hanns. Like the others have said, ice, heat, and perhaps a good massage from your friendly neightborhood cobra.

Actually she is right. I believe she is a nurse as well. The rational behind using ice for the first 48 hours instead of heat , is that heat can cause the capillaries to burst, which leads to bruising and increased swelling. Heat feels better, I agree. But ice will help more. Hope you feel better soon, and kudos to you for helping.

Thank you everyone...

...For the support and get well wishes. It truly is appreciated. I'm also happy to say that there is hardly any bruising, just generally sore muscles...and the ribs still hurt, but that will take some time I know...:)

Thank you again, ya all...you're simply fabulous!

Rora I'm glad you're ok, and no one was seriously hurt. Any suggestions would only be redundant!
