linksys or netgear?

Both work well. Linksys teamed up with a firewall software producer called Zone Alarm. Most of the home networking industry follows Linksys' lead.

Yes but for wireless networking Netgear seems to be the fav....

I think I will look at those again... I want the kit...

Not many people are all that certain. Truthfully, most of this comes down to preference and price.
