I picked up my favorite Anne Rice book. The Witching Hour. Lost my other copy to an ex girlfriend. Got a cute basket and two brass clam boxes. All for five dollars.

I'll keep the book and put the other junk up on Ebay.

I used to stop at garage sales ....

until I ended up with more junk than they had all the garage sales. Well, that is an exaggeration but I did have alot of junk which I sold at a garage sale of my own.
Kept all my depression ware plates though.

youngest son and I spent the day at it

We had so much fun. Only spent $25 and have a trunk full of stuff the other one has to carry in.

The Witching Hour is my favorite Anne Rice book too... I think her Witches of Mayfair books are as good, if not better, than her Vampire Chronicles. :)

I love garage/yard sales! even if ya only got a dollar, you can get something :D I love to go to flea markets too. We have a great flea market where I live, its only open on weekends. Its all inside, its great on rainy fall days to wander up and down the hallways trying to find a treasure among the junk! :)

When my kids were little I used to buy clothes for them...babies seldom wear out clothes and often found great looking outfits for little expense. And once in a great while I could find a real find. But working weekends stinks as most yard/ garage sales are over by the time I get out of work.

I love to hunt thru yard sales and flea markets. Especially for books.

Do you find that since Ebay began, people are raising their prices just in case what they are selling is collectible? I went to a yard sale this past summer, and the lady was selling paperback books for $3.50/piece. Nothing special about them, just your run of the mill books. I wasn't going to say anything, but my friend had to know why. The lady's reply was she saw what the books were going for on Ebay, so she was trying to get the same price. *shrug* I'm used to buying paperbacks for 25 cents. Maybe I'm too cheap.

Hey Bubble! :)

Yes, Traders World :) I love to go there, we also go to over to Turtle Creek.

I forgot you were so close, damn girl, we should do lunch! :D

yard sale/flea markets

they have the biggest yard sale in the world here once a year.it is five miles long.you can find some great stuff there.

I love yard sales & flea markets. I rarely buy anything, I just like looking for treasures. I have found a few dolls to use in my makeover projects, but nothing major. It is a fun way to spend an afternoon.

garage and yard sales

my wife has a bad habit of stopping at these. i guess they are fine for buying books but for the most part she ends up getting stuff that i end up putting in my garage sale or give to the good will....its all a plot .....a cycle that never stops arghhhhhhh

I don't really like going to garage sales because I always buy something. I can't stand clutter and feel like we already have too much "stuff" in the house.

On a side note, WriterDom, I hestitated to click on this post with a picture because of yesterday's link! Ack, I can't get that horrible image out of my mind.

Here in the UK we have whats called "Boot fairs", what happens is you put all your crap in your car and drive to a field/carpark/ open space of any kind and then put all your crap out for people to view and buy.

There are huge boot fairs and tiny boot fairs but every saturday/sunday morning you'll find thousands and thousands of people walking about looking at other peoples crap.

I don't go often but I've got some great stuff from them in the past ;)

Hard Back with nice Jacket...mmmmmm

I love the Witching Hour...Wuz it Talisban? It's been so long...

I used to hate yard sales because it reminded me of all day saturdays with a girlfriend and her meddling parents...

I'd Fuck Anne Rice

I go to yard sales to look for antique books, purses and decorative boxes. It's amazing what some will sell for a quarter that I can resell for $40

Speaking of finding Anne R. at a yard/garage sale, have you seen the independent film Ghost World? Like Steven Bescimi? Like great hidden pearls found where least expected?
