In a study announced today by the National Institutes of Health, it was found that:

47 percent of African Americans, 26 percent of Hispanics, 13 percent of men who have sex with men, and 18 percent of the general population believe that an HIV vaccine already exists but is being kept a secret.

sad but true it will probably be like chris rock said. they will never cure aids just make it tollerable. like they do with herpes.







doubt a cure will be found in my lifetime. i honestly do believe it is a manmade disease that got out of hand. i refuse to believe this horrible epidemic was sleeping in monkeys for millenia till man came along and woke it up.


if it does get cured another worse disease will come along.

Yes.

A Vaccine does indeed exist. It was proven in clinical trials to be 80-90% effective in preventing transmission of the HIV virus in Black and Asian participants. The company (can't remember the name off hand, they had all thier test rusults, etc...on-line) considered the vaccine a failure and is no longer in the business of attempting to develop any vaccine for HIV, and makes no attempt to publicize the results of their earlier tests. I'm gonna try and find their site again and post a link...


Look at Magic Johnson...not only does a VACCINE exist, so does a cure.

Whilst there is so much money to be made out of this abhorrent virus... the vaccine will remain secret. The same goes for a cancer cure... how many times have we heard announcements that researchers have developed these treatmants and then nothing. They have been paid off or silenced. There are too many people making vast fortunes from the astronomical cost of symptomatic relief for these diseases. Thus is the nature of the capitalist society in which we live.

A Japanese university has created what seems to be an HIV cure. They developed a drug that blocks HIV from entering any new cells. I believe this means the virus would die off if it could not enter any new cells. I don't have the link off-hand but I'll find it later and post it on here.

Its a shame that vacccine didn't work out, but it sounded as if they were making progress.

I haven't found anything from this year, but last year there was a call to increase funding of vaccine research.

Given that there is no cure for HIV, it is a little puzzling that more effort isn't being put into preventing the disease.

Even ad campaigns to promote safer behavior is mired down in ideology such as forcing organizations to preach abstinence and to condemn prostitution. Shouldn't we be trying to reach as many people as possible rather than forcing our morals upon them?
