Wanted to ask your opinion about something....

I met a guy at a club on friday night and we exchanged phone numbers at the end of the evening. I have never met anyone this way before as I have always become friends with blokes before anything happened, plus I am new to the club scene.

Last night I had 2 dodgy phone calls, one saying 'suck my dick' and hanging up, and the next asying 'do you know who this is?' and then i hung up.

This has really freaked me out - it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's made me feel kind of powerless. The 2nd especially was horrible because it implies that it was someone I knew. It didn't sound like this guy's voice but he was whispering so it was hard to tell, and i guess one of his mates could have got hold of his phone and done it.

So my question is, is this the kind of thing I've got to look forward to if I give my phone number out?

What do you do if you want to keep in contact with someone? Just take their number?

Thanks

Sorry to hear this guy is a tit, have u a called ID service. That way the police could be informed.

hey, thanks astro. but what is ID service? And it's my mobile number he's got; does it work with mobiles?

Caller ID shows the number who is calling u, as it's your mobile this should show any way.

If he does keep calling I would ask the mobile provider, BT, Orange or whomever and see if they can block him from your phone.

I think you may be unfortunate with this guy. I dont think most men would do this.

Then again, it might not be him. But I really wouldn't give out your number like that. Not till you have seen them a couple times at the clubs. Watch the way they act around people. Then follow your instincts. You know, that little voice inside that says....

Don't eat the chocoalte. No wait. Not that one.

The other voice. The one that says no...no... no don't give that paper to him.

Never give your home or office number; simply give your mobile phone number, so you can switch it off whenever you want. On mobiles generally the calling number appears on the screen!

Should it happen a couple of times more, you can go to the local police and denounce the matter, giving them the number you received from this guy at the club! Just to check ...!

The next time they call and ask "do you know who this is" be calm and tell them yes and that you have reported their harassment to the police. It may stop them if not then do what I do with obscene callers get a whistle and the next time they call blow it into the mouth piece. It stops telemarketers who won't stop calling too.:D

thanks everyone. yeah luckily it was just my mobile - i wouldn't give anyone my home number until i was absolutely sure.

He did seem nice.....but I am naturally quite a trusting person. Perhaps I should harden up!
