While reading these stories I was appalled that anyone would think that murder was at the heart of what these three people were at when they stayed behind to help those in need.

The question that arises for me is whether these people would have died if they had be evacuated? If not then why charge the doctor and nurses for killing them. Why not charge the Mayor of NO or the Governor of LA for their murder or at the very least co-conspirators.

The lack of a plan or execution of a plan by the local and state governments is what killed these poor people not the doctors and nurses that risked their lives to stay behind in impossible conditions to help those that could not leave on their own.

Yes, I've been stunned by this as well. :(

And we have a shortage right now, of medical personnel-
Hre's one more reason NOT to become an MD!

So the patients died. So the doctors/nurses gave them morphine. So what? They were working under the worst possible conditions and I have to wonder how many of those patients would have died anyway.

This story pisses me off. Why not go after the mass murders behind the Super Dome fiasco? Oh... that was FEMA... Never mind.

Uh...it wasn't FEMA, it was the City of New Orleans that was behind that fiasco. FEMA didn't get involved until later, then they just moved the lot to Houston.

Because of working in the medical field, as well as working in a hospital in Hurricane Alley among other reasons I have been following this case with great interest.

One thing that is often mentioned in the articles I have seen is the fact that another drug was found to have been administered to these patients along with the Morphine. (Versed) One thing that is rarely mentioned is that this same drug is often used to calm patients. It is a sedative.

It was documented by the Doctor and the Nurses that they administered these medications. (If you're going to kill someone you don't document the drugs you give them or the dosages.)

Another thing that is rarely mentioned in the press here in Florida is the minor fact that these patients were never Autopsied after their deaths. No blood was drawn and no tissues taken for later analysis. How does anyone, the special prosecuter included know that these people died from a purposly given overdose? (No there has been no exhumation as of yet.)

The entire case so far as I have seen or heard is based on hearsay and speculation by the families of the deceased.

Now this doctor and these two nurses must defend themselves in court. People die, hell we're all going to die one day. These people died in terrible conditions in which people were struggling to live. The Doctor and Nurses were not only struggling to survive themselves but were also struggling against all odds to keep as many of the people in their care alive as well. Now they have to go through this hell as well. Is it any wonder why there is a growing lack of medical personell?
