Do your avatars give the game away?

Whenever I see the image of a big, strong, hero type with rippling muscles, square jawed and stripped to the waist, I think of a scrawny youth.

Whenever I see the image of a beautiful, well formed female displaying most of her body I think of someone who wouldn't be seen dead outside of a tent like article of clothing.

Am I wrong?

Please tell me I am.

Well, it's true for me. I share few characteristics with my avatar.

But just so your illusions are not shattered, I've seen pics of TN_Vixen around this place, and she's a young, blonde, well-proportioned lass, like her pic. That's just one example. I haven't seen many other people.

And do you really think that the people who are polar opposites of their avs are going to confess? They have chosen to portray themselves in that manner - why break the illusion by admitting they look nothing like that image?

And, Laurel, may I just compliment you on your amazing dexterity. I know few felines that have even come close to your command of the keyboard.

Yeah, luckily I have small paws. But they do get sore from having to smush them all together so I don't hit several keys at once. And you should see the stares Manu gets when he takes me out! You think interracial couples have it bad...

Ok then, I'm not on the Upload thread and while I do not look like my av exactly, I'm 5'7", 125 pds, and a 36C. My pic may or may not still be floating around here somewhere. Heck, give me a few years and my hair will even match (it's doing its damnedest to go grey). Don't believe the above, there are those who could verify it for me.


Therefore, I don't wear tents or even camp in them for that matter. And I have no issues with showing some skin.

Does it really matter? I don't think so. I've chosen AV's that I thought were beautiful that I thought fit my s/n, nothing more...nothing less.

Come on now, surely you didn't mean to be so unkind? I don't think of you as a mean person. Are you, really? And why do you care?

Surely there are some people here - and everywhere - who dream and fantasize behind their avs. Is that wrong? Is that bad? Do you really think it gains anyone anything to ask a cruel question like yours?

Lit, like many such places, is home to dreams of what could be as much as it's home to confessions of what is. Leave "reality" alone for those who would rather escape it. Leave their feelings of "home" and "comfort" and "acceptance" here intact, without the stark reality of what they might have to face in their everyday lives.

So they live a different reality through an av? So what? The net is the Realm of the Mind. Why would you ask people who have lovely minds and sexy avs if their bodies really match or if they're just trying to pull a fast one over us all?

Let such things come out of their own accord. Or not.
Let the dreamers dream.
This is the appropriate place for such fantasies, is it not?
