There are some posters on this board I basically disagree with most of the time. I might find them that way for various reasons. Haters of something, you know what they are going to post regardless of topic, people that their only response to an argument to a topic is name calling, just plain silly, etcetera.

Every once in awhile they post something you want to make a comment on.

I must admit I am not a even handed with the idea of content over poster so I'm not calling anyone out over this.

I am just wonder how the rest of you folks feel.

Both in selective ways.

If someone is asking a question I'll usually answer even if I don't like the person in a social sense.

If someone is just having a talk about something I am interested in, but I don't think the thread maker would like to see me in their thread, I'll stay out. Some exceptions to this, but it's a good rule in a "host" sense. I don't want to crash the party and make the "host" have to be nice to me when they'd really rather not.

There are people that don't "like" or "dislike" me but are fine interacting in conversation. And there are people that are just indifferent to irritated in having to respond to me in one of their threads.

In general I would want to play or talk to someone who is interested in doing it, and if they're not, I'll back out or avoid them.

If it's someone that is okay talking to me and on a subject that I am interested in, I'm in.

We disagree on a lot but I enjoy debating with you. You are good at it.

Content, generally, though there are a few posters I tend to seek out or avoid based on their usual posting style.

I do try to keep it, if not light, then impersonal in the sense that I know I'm dealing with someone's "ideas" and often they think I'm dealing with "them" as a person.

If someone just doesn't like my style or my humor or my whatever, eventually I get the hint. I'll usually try to talk to them a few times and if they pointedly ignore me I'll just assume they have given me all the hints I should need. If I don't actually put them on ignore for a little bit to remind myself to not see them, I'll just have them on mental ignore and it'll reduce my chances of quoting them.

I like to attack stupid posters with my fire axe. Some theses need killing.

interesting post!

are you getting any media coverage about lake Okeechobee?

I think the more 'crazy' I post, the more people get fired up and feel compelled to post.

what drive me nuts though, is when I post in a different forum and asshats like SeanR will follow me. when I post in non political posts, I'm nice. I'm always nice, till others are not nice and its time not to be nice.

I have no idea what is going on in Lake Okeechobee.

As for posters that just follow me around to call me names they get put on ignore and I don't post with them regardless of content.

Content, I don't know anyone well enough to post for them specifically. Yet, I do agree with Recidiva, if I find a subject, but feel the person and I do not have a good history, I will most likely refrain from posting, especially if we have different opinions. I suppose this could be considered some sort of forum etiquette or perhaps I'm just a huge wuss.

Both, more content than posters. If you pay any attention to me I can literally go from hot to cold on a person post to post because other than a few people I don't really care enough about any of you to really have much of an opinion.

There are of course people that I'll post just to fuck with, mostly Jen, generally speaking if I don't like you I'll ignore you or put you on ignore. Though obviously I don't always do that.

You and I disagree all the time, but you're a fun poster. You can carry on several conversations with me at once, insulting the crap out of me (in colorful ways) in one thread and talking about a PS2 emulator in another thread.

I appreciate your versatility and your lack of holding-a-grudingness.

Both, mostly depends on my mood and if what is being said interests me. Or if I know or want to know the poster.

you are an ignorant thug

Name calling is so petty, that's why I stick to responding to content.

^ Example of a poster I should have on ignore for being abusive (not to me) but I can't bear to do it.

So occasionally...funny and witty trumps manners. But you gotta be really funny and witty. Rob qualifies.

He has to be one of the funniest posters on the board. Smart, informed funny.

*whew* dodged a bullet there.....I just don't know what I'd do if I didn't have folks in mah enabler posse like Recidiva watchin' mah back!! :)

and for the record, showing people the error of their ways is not "abusive", at least in the classical definition of the word!

Yup. So I have principles sometimes, but I can be bribed with cookies, jokes and insight.

I'd like to fool myself that they'd need to be really good cookies.

My mind can be changed. I don't mind hearing different opinions.
